Hotel Description

You know what? New Rome house 2 isn’t going to win any design awards, but honestly, it’s one of those places that just works. I mean, when you’re staying right on Via Palestro – literally a five-minute walk from Termini Station – you’re not exactly expecting boutique luxury, and that’s completely fine. The building has that slightly weathered Roman charm where the entrance feels a bit cramped, but once you’re inside, everything’s actually quite clean and functional.

The location is the real star here, though I’m guessing most people booking this place already know that. What they might not realize is how handy it is to have the metro practically at your doorstep without dealing with the chaos of staying directly inside the station area. Via Palestro is busy during the day – you’ll hear traffic and people wheeling suitcases over cobblestones – but it quiets down surprisingly well at night. The neighborhood has that authentic Roman residential feel, with a few local bars and that little alimentari on the corner where the owner actually remembers your face after the second visit.

What I appreciated most was how straightforward everything felt. Check-in was quick (though the desk closes earlier than some places, so don’t roll in at midnight expecting someone to be there), and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. The rooms are… well, they’re perfectly adequate. Not spacious, but thoughtfully laid out with decent storage and surprisingly good water pressure in the shower. The air conditioning works – crucial during Roman summers – and the WiFi is solid enough for video calls, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed. The 7.9 rating makes sense; it’s not fancy, but there’s nothing really wrong with it either. Sure, the hallway carpets have seen better days, and you might hear your neighbors if they’re particularly enthusiastic about their Roman holiday, but for the price point and location, those feel like minor trade-offs. If you’re the type who wants to drop your bags and immediately start exploring rather than hanging around the hotel, this place gets you into the city center in under ten minutes and keeps you connected to everywhere else you want to go.
