Nerva Accommodation Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Nerva Accommodation – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first walked up to Piazza Della Suburra, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot tucked into this quiet corner of Monti. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming places are exactly what you need in Rome.
The thing about staying here is that you’re actually living like a local for a few days. Monti isn’t one of those tourist-trap neighborhoods where every other shop sells plastic gladiator helmets – it’s got this authentic, slightly bohemian vibe that Romans genuinely love. I mean, you can walk to the Colosseum in about eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re also around the corner from places like Il Sorpasso where actual Romans grab their morning coffee. The staff at Nerva seemed to get this balance too – they’re not overly polished in that corporate hotel way, but they know their stuff. When I asked about dinner recommendations, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a tourist brochure; he actually drew me a little map showing which streets to wander down for the good trattorias.
What really won me over was how the place feels during different parts of the day. Mornings are wonderfully quiet – you can hear church bells from Santa Maria Maggiore drifting over, and there’s something almost medieval about the narrow streets when the light hits them just right. Evenings get livelier as the neighborhood comes alive, but it’s not chaotic like areas closer to the Spanish Steps. The rooms themselves are clean and functional without trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy (though honestly, the view from some of the upper floors is pretty spectacular). The building has that slightly worn elegance that you find all over Rome – you know, where everything’s been there for centuries and it shows, but in a charming way rather than a falling-apart way. One small thing that impressed me was the Wi-Fi actually worked consistently, which… well, if you’ve stayed in older Roman buildings, you know that’s not always a given. And parking – if you’re driving, which I wouldn’t necessarily recommend in central Rome – there are a few paid spots nearby, though nothing directly attached to the hotel. The real advantage here is location without the location premium. You’re genuinely in the heart of things, walking distance to major sights, but you’re paying reasonable rates because you’re not staying in some palazzo that’s been converted into a luxury hotel. It’s the kind of place where you’ll sleep well, start your day without fighting crowds just to leave your hotel, and end up with stories about the neighborhood rather than just checking sights off a list.

Reviews of Nerva Accommodation
Superb – Yu from United States – 15 May 2025 (9/10)
The room is dark, quiet, and well air-conditioned with a split ac. The location is central. The kitchen is stocked with a variety of snacks to stave off mid-night hunger. The host was very welcoming! Overall I liked the visit.
What could be improved: The precise entrance of the building was impossible for a new tourist to find without the help of someone who worked at a shop nearby. Perhaps the host can email a list of directions to bring the guest from Cavour Metro to the building’s entrance step by step, preferably with pictures.Nice place to stay in Rome – Hazal from France – 3 March 2025 (9/10)
Great location, helpful staff, the kitchen where you have coffee and snacks 24/24 for free
What could be improved: The only reason why I don’t give 10/10 to this place is because there were renovation works of the facade and at that time they were working right at my windows, so it was very noisy from 7:30 every morning and that was very annoying, that could have been taken into account and that room shouldn’t have been rent those days… otherwise nice spacious roomWill stay again – T from Canada – 13 December 2024 (7/10)
Everything about this exceded what I was expecting. The little kitchenette that was fully stocked and available to all guests was great for a little snack or coffeec and yogurt in the am
What could be improved: I had difficulty finding it and there was no sign or anything to help you. We hen I first gained entry I thought I was in a construction site which was a little alarming. However once I got to the main door in side that changedVery good – Yalchin from Azerbaijan – 7 July 2024 (8/10)
Location is perfect
Nice value for the money you are paying – Ignacio from Ireland – 28 February 2024 (7/10)
I liked the location of the hotel very much. Better for that price, quite impossible I would say. The room was also very nice
What could be improved: There are two Nerva Hotels and staff travels between both. So there is no staff at the hotel half the time. And sound isolation was quite terrible to be honest (besides advertising a good sound isolation in booking). I could hear my neighbour snoring and there was some construction done on the floor over my ceiling which made it impossible to sleep from 8 onwards everyday (the hotel is on the first floor of a building of several floors).Happy to have stayed there. – Nancy from United States – 6 October 2023 (8/10)
This is really close to the metro. It is also a short walk to major Roman sites. There are many restaurants, stores and bars close by. The security is tight which is good for this area. We were met within minutes of calling on arrival. The building is hundreds of years old with thick walls. The AC worked well. Roomier than some Europe central hotels I have used. The tax was 7 E per person per night which had raised since I booked so shocked me–you pay that on arrival. The "breakfast" is packaged melba toast and croissants, corn flakes jam and milk and juice as well as hot drinks. You do your own dishes. All the staff were nice.
What could be improved: Knowing the raise in tax before arrival. Better food choices. I use a noise app on my phone or noise would have been a problem from outside the hotel.Definitely recommend it – Φωτεινή from Greece – 22 September 2023 (8/10)
Nice property, near to the sights (maximum from pantheon 30mins).
Monti for me is the best place to live and this sums it up all!!It was such a pleasant stay with no troubles
What could be improved: The only minus(but that’s my preference) is that the reception wasn’t working properly for me..Had to communicate with them just to pay the tax plenty of times..Comfortable, affordable, secure, and overall pleasant stay. – Alison from United Kingdom – 29 August 2023 (8/10)
Location was the biggest plus, after that I was most impressed by the automation of their security/access to the property, and finally with tasteful decor being the next best thing about this property.
To be clear, the security and automation of the property will ensure you feel safe and secure at all times, via their ‘three PIN code’ access.
What could be improved: Quite a lot of noise from some of the other guests, which was the biggest negative. If I was to be picky, I’d also comment on how reception is only manned at particular times and my late arrival (still at a decent hour, though) meant I really wanted to make the most of my stay, but reception were eager to take payment when I was out exploring Rome so I had to rush back to the hotel to accommodate their eagerness.Superb – Pavol from Slovakia – 21 August 2023 (9/10)
Clean cozy room with all needed facilities. Check in was good with nice staff and helpful staff. Location of this hotel was amazing. There are many good restaurants and its just 10 minute walk from main station and 10minute walk from colosseo. 100% recommend this hotel.
Great stay – perfect for a weekend trip to Rome- awesome location – pretty good value for money – Nicola from New Zealand – 6 August 2023 (7/10)
Location was perfect in such a cool area, so close to the main attractions too! The room was good I loved the black out blinds, AC and the bed was firm which I like. The staff were nice they cleaned my room after the first night and after check out let me store my bags for the afternoon.
What could be improved: Bathroom is small
