Look, I’ll be honest – when I first spotted the Navona Secret Stay Guest House tucked away on Via dei Coronari, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is pretty understated, which actually turns out to be part of its charm. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon (I timed it), but somehow this little street feels like a secret that only Romans know about.

The thing about staying here is that you’re basically living like a local in one of Rome’s most incredible neighborhoods. Via dei Coronari is this gorgeous cobblestone street lined with antique shops and little galleries – honestly, I spent way too much time just wandering up and down it. The guest house itself is what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place in the heart of Rome: clean, comfortable, nothing fancy but everything you actually need. The rooms are smaller than what Americans are used to (I mean, it’s a centuries-old building), but they’ve got character with those thick walls and interesting architectural details you just don’t find in modern hotels. Plus, the thick walls actually help with noise, which is a godsend because Rome can get pretty lively at night.

What really sold me on this place was the location – and I don’t mean that in a generic “convenient location” way. You know how some places claim to be central but you still end up taking the metro everywhere? Not here. Piazza Navona is literally around the corner, the Pantheon is a pleasant stroll, and you can walk to Trastevere in about fifteen minutes if you’re feeling ambitious. The morning routine became grabbing coffee at the little bar two doors down (the owner, Maria, makes incredible cornetti), then wandering through Campo de’ Fiori market before the crowds hit. There’s something really satisfying about being able to duck back to your room for a quick afternoon break, then head out for aperitivo without any planning or transportation drama. Fair warning though – the street can get busy with tourists during peak season since it connects some major sights, but it quiets down beautifully in the evenings. The 7.5 rating feels about right – it’s not going to wow you with luxury amenities, but it delivers exactly what it promises in a location that honestly can’t be beat for the price point.

  Location is excellent, a/c was critical, everything was clean and comfortable.

  The air conditioning in the middle of summer was perfect, and the bathroom was great! Was here during the height of summer and tourist season. The price was legit for a place to crash and cool off.
  
  What could be improved: My family member didn’t like how loud it was outside at times. It was in the heart of Rome, so I didn’t care. I was so tired I passed out! I also didn’t quite realize that it was not a hotel and there was no check-in on the fly. We kept our bags with us all day, because the actual hotel they said we could drop the bags off at was at a different location. The staff had to drive to the residence to let us in, FYI.

  The location is superb, the staff helpful. Unfortunately I had booked the second floor room with view, but ended up on the ground floor in back. But it's still a great place to stay.

  What could be improved: When we arrived there was no clear information about connecting to the Wifi. My stepdad got stuck in the bathroom because there was no easy way to open or close the door. It was incredibly difficult to use.
  The TV provided no channel that spoke English, and we could not connect to Netflix or anything like that.
  No good view from our window. Only saw feet.

  Great location and great price! Clean, comfy, quiet room in an apartment building on a cute little street with bars, shops, restaurants and an easy walk from Piazza Navona and the Vatican.
  
  What could be improved: It’s on a narrow street, so you may not be able to get a taxi to drop you off right at the front door. Be prepared to walk a block or too with your luggage. Also, there is no staffed front desk. It was not an issue for us, and the person who checked us in was lovely. Just be aware there is no one on site to answer questions after you check in.

  Great location, it’s best that you inform them of the time of your arrival as there is no reception at this place, we’ve waited 20 mins but it was not a big deal
