Hotel Description

You know what surprised me about Navona First Rooms? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet side street – Piazza della Cancelleria – that most tourists walk right past on their way to the main Pantheon crowds. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute stroll from all the chaos of Piazza Navona, but somehow this little pocket feels like a secret Rome locals forgot to keep to themselves.

The building itself has that authentic Roman weight to it, if that makes sense – thick walls that actually keep the street noise out (which is saying something in this part of the city). When I first walked in, honestly, I was expecting something trying too hard to be boutique-y, but it’s more… well, it’s sort of like staying in a really well-maintained Roman apartment that someone’s grandmother would be proud of. The rooms aren’t huge – this is central Rome, after all – but they’re thoughtfully put together with decent air conditioning that actually works during those brutal August afternoons. And the WiFi is solid, which I can’t say for half the places I’ve stayed in Italy.

Here’s the thing that really sold me on this place: the location is almost ridiculously perfect for exploring on foot. You can hit Sant’Eustachio for what’s honestly the best coffee in Rome (locals will fight me on this, but I stand by it), then wander over to the Pantheon before the tour groups descend around 10 AM. The Campo de’ Fiori market is maybe a five-minute walk – perfect for grabbing fresh fruit or just soaking up that chaotic morning energy. And if you’re into the restaurant scene, you’re right in the sweet spot between touristy and authentic. There’s this little osteria on Via del Governo Vecchio that the hotel staff pointed me toward – completely unpretentious, amazing carbonara, and I never would have found it otherwise. The evening walks are pretty magical too, especially when you catch the Pantheon all lit up and mostly empty around 9 PM. Just don’t expect to sleep before midnight if you’re a light sleeper – Romans eat late and talk loudly, and the streets echo. But honestly? That’s part of the charm. You’re staying in the heart of a living, breathing city, not some sanitized hotel district.

Reviews

  • Amazing Place – Anthony from United Kingdom – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

    Couldn't recommend enough!

What could be improved: No issues whatsoever

  • Amazing location, couldn't ask for better – Courtney from Australia – 19 June 2025 (10/10)

Great location, five minutes from Piazza Navona and the Pantheon and 15 mins from Trevi Fountain. Building the accomodation is in is a little on the old side and no elevator but once checked in and in the room they have been done up nicely and are very comfortable to rest after a days exploring. Great location with plenty of places to eat and drink near by as well as easy buses to Colosseum, Vatican City or Termani station within a few minutes walk. Host who checked us in and also greeted us each day when we came back in the afternoon for a brief rest was so friendly and cheerful.

  • Will stay again – Milagros from Ireland – 18 June 2025 (8/10)

    Location friendly staff

What could be improved: Hard to open sometimes the heavy front door need a little tug had to call owner at 12mn for help!
    No elevator

  • Exceptional – Habiba from Egypt – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

Location is great. Flavio was amazing. So kind and cheerful and very trustworthy. I forgot something important in the room after checkout and he made sure he gave it back to me after he cleaned when I was even clueless about it. Comfortable beds.

What could be improved: Musty smell. Could be age of the building.

  • Exceptional – Oliver from United Kingdom – 5 June 2025 (10/10)

Host and location amazing. Room clean and spacious enough

What could be improved: Nothing. All was good

  • Almost perfect – Duc from Vietnam – 31 May 2025 (9/10)

The location. And the owner is probably the nicest man we met in Italy. The minibar was excellent and we had our fills with teas and cookies. It was a vey comfortable stay

What could be improved: Unfortunately it is an old building so no elevator (the owner did carry our heavy luggage up the stair for us though). And the wall is not so noise proof.

  • Exceptional – Man from France – 22 May 2025 (10/10)

Very nice host, perfect location , the room felt clean and tidy, I like the little reception buffet that really adds to the experience.

    Perfect stay for Rome.

  • Superb – Thomas from United Kingdom – 22 May 2025 (9/10)

Location was wonderful, so close to amenities and restaurants; however, finding it was a little challenging.

What could be improved: Nothing – it was a typically middle of Rome property: steep stairs and looking a little tired on the outside. The sort of place that we love.

  • Very confortable – Adrian from Romania – 8 May 2025 (9/10)

The room was very confortable, clean and we had a great stay. The position in the city is great, we didn't need public transportation at all, it was possible to visit everything by walking. Flavio is a very nice person, everyday he is there to clean the room if is needed or to help and I want to thank him. In the reception of the apartment there are always available some cookies, sweets, coffee, tea, water and Flavio is always careful to fulfill everything when is empty.

What could be improved: In the room 5, you don't have a view outside (this could be good because is not any noise from the street), but you can't see on the window how is the weather outside and the sun light is very low. For us it wasn't a problem, but if there are any persons with some claustrophobic problems, maybe is better to ask for another room.

  • Exceptional – Lanna from Australia – 25 April 2025 (10/10)

Unfortunately we didn’t catch his name but the staff who helped us check in and who was there throughout our stay was incredibly lovely and made us feel right at home

What could be improved: It was quite noisy at night
