Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Moshi Moshi? The name makes you think quirky Japanese boutique hotel, but honestly, it’s this surprisingly solid place right across from Termini Station that actually knows what it’s doing. I mean, Via Giolitti isn’t the prettiest street in Rome – let’s be real here – but the location is absolutely killer if you’re doing the train thing or need to catch those early flights to anywhere.
The whole setup feels like someone who actually travels designed it, not some corporate committee. The rooms are clean and modern without trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy, and here’s the thing that impressed me most – they’ve somehow managed to keep the street noise from driving you insane. That’s no small feat when you’re literally a two-minute walk from one of Europe’s busiest train stations. The AC actually works (trust me, this matters in Roman summers), and the beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a medieval torture device. The staff speaks decent English, which honestly saves a lot of awkward Google Translate moments when you’re trying to figure out where to find decent coffee at 6 AM.
What really sold me on this place is how it handles the whole “transit hotel” thing without feeling like a transit hotel, if that makes sense. Yeah, you’ve got people rolling suitcases around at all hours, but it doesn’t feel chaotic or impersonal. The lobby has this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling like you’re in someone’s way. And speaking of planning – you’re basically positioned perfectly for everything. The metro’s right there, obviously, but you can also walk to the Colosseum in about twenty minutes if you’re feeling ambitious, or hop on the 714 bus that runs down to Trastevere. There’s this little alimentari around the corner on Via Marsala where you can grab actual good sandwiches and fruit, not just tourist trap stuff. The neighborhood gets a bit sketchy after dark – I wouldn’t call it dangerous, just… keep your wits about you, especially near the station. But during the day it’s totally fine, just busy and a bit gritty in that authentic Roman way. For what you’re paying and what you get, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice, especially if you’re not planning to spend much time in the hotel anyway. The 8-star rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s definitely not cutting corners where it matters.
