Hotel Description

You know what strikes you first about Mood44? The address actually tells you everything – it’s tucked away on this tiny vicolo (that’s what Romans call those narrow side streets) right in the heart of Spagna. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Spanish Steps, but somehow you’ve escaped into this quiet little pocket where tourists don’t really wander unless they know exactly where they’re going.

The building itself has that understated Roman elegance thing going on – nothing flashy, but when you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone put real thought into the details. The design feels contemporary without trying too hard, if that makes sense. It’s got that boutique hotel vibe where everything feels intentional, from the lighting in the lobby to the way they’ve arranged the common spaces. Honestly, it reminds me of those places where Romans who work in fashion or design might actually choose to stay when they have visitors in town. The staff seems to get this too – they’re genuinely helpful without being overly formal, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you proper recommendations (not just the obvious tourist spots).

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it manages to be both central and peaceful. You’re close enough to Via del Corso that you can walk to dinner anywhere you want, but Vicolo della Torretta itself is surprisingly quiet – especially at night when the shopping crowds thin out. The rooms reflect this balance perfectly; they’re well-designed without being fussy, and the windows actually open properly, which is more rare than you’d think in Rome. The bathrooms are legitimately nice too, with decent water pressure and those little touches that show someone cares about the guest experience. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and even then the area can get pretty busy during the day, but by evening you feel like you’ve found this little sanctuary. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be the most luxurious place in Rome, but it absolutely nails what it’s going for. If you want to be right in the middle of everything but still get a good night’s sleep, and you appreciate thoughtful design without paying palazzo prices, Mood44 gets it right.

The location was excellent. There was a small plaza nearby with several restaurants which was very convenient.

What could be improved: Would prefer a reception, but the staff was very attentive through WhatsApp.

Perfect location and room size for a family with two kids, easy walk to all mayor attractions. The host was great in helping and answering our questions. Overall one of the best places to stay in Rome with a family.

What could be improved: There's nothing I can recall not liking.

Location great. V central. Just as advertised. No breakfast included but provided tea and coffee. Room clean & comfortable Check in and communication between host great

What could be improved: It would have been even better if there were bathrobes and moisturiser. Having milk in room fridge would have been better but found milk in fridge in reception

  • Absolutely perfect! 🤩 – Fadila from Egypt – 3 February 2025 (10/10)

My second time to stay there and definitely not the last. Would recommend it for solo travelers, couples and friends it works great for all cases. Size of the room, cleanliness and definitely location are excellent.

What could be improved: Nothing. Only thing is they don’t have a reception/person available at the property which could be an issue for some people but I never found an issue with that. Checking in is super easy and they are available 24/7 via WhatsApp. Never found difficulty in contacting them.

  • Comfortable, well designed and clean room in Rome – Limor from United Kingdom – 24 December 2024 (10/10)

A comfortable, well designed and very clean room at an excellent location in Rome.
This is not an hotel but friendly staff from sister hotel offer precise communication on WhatsApp. We took the larger room for comfort. It was spacious and newly refurbished. At the time we stayed it was good value for money.

What could be improved: I can’t think of anything.
