Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? The moment you walk up those stairs to the second floor, you’re hit with this gorgeous flood of natural light that makes the whole apartment feel way more spacious than you’d expect from a Roman rental. The Monti Coliseum sits right on Via del Pozzuolo – and honestly, I love that it’s tucked away from the main tourist drags but still puts you smack in the heart of one of Rome’s most authentic neighborhoods.

I mean, three bedrooms in Monti? That’s practically unheard of, especially at this price point. The setup actually works really well for families or groups who want to spread out after long days of sightseeing. The master bedroom faces the quieter courtyard side (thank god, because Via del Pozzuolo can get a bit lively with the locals heading to dinner), while the other two rooms are perfect for kids or that friend who snores. The kitchen’s properly equipped too – not just some token mini-fridge situation – which comes in handy when you discover the incredible produce market at Mercato Monti, just a five-minute walk away. You’ll find yourself making morning coffee while planning your day, and there’s something deeply satisfying about having fresh bread from the corner bakery on Via dei Serpenti.

What really sets this place apart though is the location intelligence. You’re literally a ten-minute stroll from the Colosseum, but more importantly, you’re surrounded by the kind of Rome that locals actually live in. The little wine bar at the corner of Via del Boschetto becomes your evening ritual, and you start recognizing the same faces at Ai Tre Scalini where they serve the best cacio e pepe in the neighborhood – not the tourist version, the real deal. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you factor in that you’re getting apartment-style living with hotel-level cleanliness and service. Check-in was smooth (they actually showed up on time, which isn’t always a given in Rome), and when our shower head went wonky on day three, someone fixed it within hours. The building itself has that perfect Roman character – think original terracotta floors and thick walls that keep things cool even in August – but without the quirks that make you question your life choices. Sure, it’s a second-floor walkup, but honestly, after all the steps you’ll climb exploring this city, it barely registers. Book this if you want to live like a Roman for a week, not just visit like a tourist.

Reviews

  • An exceptional property in an amazing location – Fabienne from Australia – 28 June 2025 (10/10)

The location was , and the host Federico was super responsive

What could be improved: Honestly, there was nothing that we could say against the property. Everything was excellent

  • Enjoyed the central location – Doug from United States – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

The location was good and the roof terrace was nice.

What could be improved: The air conditioning didn’t work for 2 nights but they were responsive in trying to get it fixed. They provided transportation to the train station as compensation.

  • Would book again! – Elmakki-kennedy from United States – 26 October 2024 (10/10)

Superb location; on an intimate, cobble-stoned block around the corner from the Colosseum. More locals than tourists. Rooftop access and a surprise private balcony.

What could be improved: maybe having optional mosquito-nets for the windows would/could make it just a bit more comfortable.

  • Home away from home – Jake from Australia – 16 August 2024 (9/10)

The property was beautiful, great location and set up really efficiently. Our host was easily contactable.

What could be improved: 2nd floor (no lift), not an issue for us but something to consider. Electricity tripped when using 3x air-conditioners and washing machine at the same time. This was easily resolved with the host.

  • Awesome comfortable home with plenty of space great location – Ronnie from United States – 15 March 2024 (9/10)

So close to the Colosseum and major street easy to catch a taxi to anywhere else many good restaurants & bars near by

What could be improved: Minor noise from the street at night and with garbage pick up. Bed slats popped out a few times

  • Good – Gurvinder from Canada – 13 September 2024 (7/10)

    fedrico was a great host.

What could be improved: location wasnt good, misguided on booking.com

  • Var nära allt! – Tommy from Sweden – 10 May 2025 (9/10)

Totalen(allt tillsammans gjorde att vistelsen blev bekväm).

    What could be improved: –

  • Very good – Sven from Germany – 10 September 2023 (8/10)

  • Regular – Norberto from Argentina – 18 May 2025 (7/10)

    Todo lo interno del dto.

What could be improved: La entrada a la propiedad

  • Good – Simona from Romania – 2 June 2025 (7/10)
