Misa Guest House San Lorenzo Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Misa Guest House San Lorenzo for the first time, I’ll be honest — the building doesn’t scream “boutique hotel” from the outside. It’s tucked into a typical Roman residential block, and you’ll need to climb to the fourth floor (there’s an elevator, thankfully). But here’s the thing: once you step inside, you realize this intimate setup is exactly what makes it special. The owners have created something that feels more like staying with sophisticated friends than checking into a standard hotel.
The San Lorenzo Advantage
You know what I love about this location? San Lorenzo is where actual Romans hang out — not just tourists snapping photos of the Colosseum. This neighborhood has this incredible energy, especially in the evenings when the local bars and trattorias come alive. You’re literally a 10-minute walk from Termini Station, which sounds touristy but actually means you can hop on the metro and be anywhere in Rome within minutes. The area around Viale dello Scalo San Lorenzo has this authentic, slightly bohemian vibe that couples seem to absolutely love — and honestly, I get why the rating reflects that.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed without being fussy about it. Clean lines, comfortable bed, and — this matters more than you’d think — really good blackout curtains for those post-gelato afternoon naps. The bathroom was compact but well-planned, with a shower that actually had decent water pressure (not always a given in Rome’s older buildings). What impressed me most was the attention to small details: quality linens, proper reading lights, and enough outlets for all your devices.
Local Insights
Here’s something the guidebooks won’t tell you: the restaurant scene in San Lorenzo is incredible, and the guest house staff actually knows which places are worth your time versus the tourist traps. They pointed me toward a tiny osteria around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. The neighborhood also has this great morning market energy — you’ll hear the sounds of daily Roman life starting up, which beats the sanitized quiet of more touristy areas. Plus, there’s easy parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome (though honestly, you probably don’t need to).
Why Guests Love It
This four-star place works because it strikes that perfect balance between professional service and personal touch. The location gets consistently high marks because it offers something rare: you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the crowds to actually relax. Couples especially seem to appreciate the intimate scale and the fact that you can walk to dinner through real Roman streets rather than tourist corridors. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city — it’s just trying to be really, really good at what it does, and honestly, that approach totally works.
Hotels near me in Rome deliver quick strolls to Colosseum tours, gelato shops, and hidden courtyards.

Jolanta from Poland (10/10)
We arrived in Rome early in a morning and the owner kindly agreed to check us in before the usual time. That was very helpful as we had more time to explore without dragging bags behind. COmmunication with owner was great and he greeted us upon arrival. We also got a lot of gifts – wine, juce, water, snacks – that made us feel right at home and looked after. Although the street and the exterior of the building looks very sad (with roadworks going on) the appartment is VERY modern, quiet (from the courtyard side) and spacious. Its newly decorated and equipped to a high standard. It has a espresso machine with a supply of pods, kettle and some teas. Bed is comfy and big. There is a tram line 3 stop right outside the gate. It will take you straight to Collosseo and Trastevere. Very convenient. The area around the appartment isn't particularly pleasant but the quality of accommodation makes up for it. Highly recommended.
Iuliia from Poland (10/10)
Excellent place to stay in Rome if you are interested in sightseeing. Good public transport connections next to the appartment as well as supermarket and restaurants. Great contact with the owner who is a very helpful and friendly man. Very clean room, modern locks and all necessary accessories. Good quality Wi-Fi. Highly recommend!
Keramidas from Greece (10/10)
The room was comfortable and clean. The location was great, outside of the building there is a tram/bus stop. After 2 days the cleaning crew came to the apartment clean and restock everything ( fridge, coffee capsules etc.). Finally the host was very friendly and helpful, also he offered us one bottle of wine as a welcome present!!!
Catalina from Chile (10/10)

Dimitrios from Greece (10/10)
We only spend one night here but i was superb.
Niko ( if i remember correctly) was amazing. Super friendly and with a very big smile. He did everything and more to make us feel welcomed.
From the start that he opened the door to him being willing to carry the luggage and running 4 floors up to catch us before the elevator arrived.
Offering us water and wine to welcome us to he guest house.
Giving information how to move around around and where to eat.
Overall great experience, great service and most importantly great people.
Thank you very much.
