Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Mi Hotel Home? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel more like staying at someone’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel. It’s tucked away on Lungotevere Michelangelo, which honestly is one of those addresses that sounds intimidating until you realize you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Vatican walls. I mean, you can see St. Peter’s dome from some of the upper floor windows, which is pretty wild when you’re brushing your teeth in the morning.
The building itself has that classic Roman residential feel – you know, the kind where you walk through a modest entrance and then discover this surprisingly elegant interior courtyard. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully compact” rather than cramped, and they’ve clearly put effort into making the space feel homey without going overboard on the decorative touches. The bathrooms are actually decent-sized (miracle in Rome, honestly), and the beds are proper comfortable – not those rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in European hotels. What really won me over was the little kitchenette setup in most rooms. Nothing fancy, but you can make coffee that doesn’t taste like cardboard and store those amazing Roman pastries you’ll inevitably buy too many of.
The neighborhood is where this place really shines, though. Prati is sort of Rome’s best-kept secret – it’s where actual Romans live and work, not just tourists taking selfies. There’s this fantastic bakery called Antico Forno literally around the corner that opens at 6 AM, and the smell of fresh bread drifts down the street every morning. The Ottaviano metro stop is maybe a seven-minute walk, but honestly, you’re close enough to most major sites that you’ll probably just walk everywhere. The Tiber runs right along the street, and those early morning or evening walks along the river? Pure magic, especially when the light hits the water just right. Fair warning though – if you’re a super light sleeper, request a room facing the courtyard rather than the street. The traffic isn’t terrible, but Romans do love their scooters, and they’re not exactly quiet about it. The staff speaks excellent English and actually seems to enjoy helping with restaurant recommendations rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. They pointed me toward this little trattoria on Via Cola di Rienzo that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my best meals in the city.

The neighborhood is elegant, peaceful, and just a short walk from the Vatican. It felt like a perfect balance between local charm and easy access to major sights. The area is full of great cafes, restaurants, and boutique shops—plus it’s very clean and safe.
The Mi Hotel Home where we stayed was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and well-maintained throughout my stay.Exceptional – Leonard from Democratic Republic of Congo – 13 June 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: We had a room facing the street, with is absolutely busy, also at 1 am, very noise.Would definitely recommend for your city trip to Rome – Sebastiaan from Netherlands – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
Such a great hotel to stay in when you visit rome. The staff was super helpful with storing our luggage before we were able to check-in due to our early flight. Also we got some great tips and they helped us with making a reservation. Furthermore the room itself is all you need. The bed is super comfy and big. The room is super clean and well thought off. There was even a small coffee machine the room. Lastly the location is perfect with just a small bike ride to the center. Prati itself is also super nice for dinner and going to local places. Would definitely recommend for your city trip to Rome!
Amazing staff, great location and very clean room – Kaye from United Kingdom – 7 May 2025 (10/10)
The room given to us was facing the river, it was very clean and spacious and contains all the essentials. There's a SMEG fridge which kept our drinks cold and complimentary biscuits, water and coffee pods upon arrival. The staff were very nice and helpful. We arrived around 12pm and our room was already ready. The hotel is a 5 min walk to the nearest metro (Lepanto) and just a few stops you are in all the touristy spots (one stop to Vatican Museum and 2 stops to Spanish Steps). We love to walk around and found that the hotel is a 10-15 mins walk to Piazza del Popolo. The hotel is reasonable priced given the high prices of hotels in Rome due to the Jubilee so we are lucky to book this one.
What could be improved: Nothing. We are very happy with our stay.Lovely rooms, wonderful staff, really impressed – David from United Kingdom – 27 April 2025 (10/10)
This wonderful hotel is nicely situated on the main river just a short walk to town and a nice supermarket next door.
