Hotel Description
You know what hit me first about Marisol’s House? The silence. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Colosseum – I timed it – but somehow this little pocket of Via Marco Aurelio feels like you’ve stepped into a different Rome entirely. The street itself is this narrow, tree-lined thing that most tourists never discover, running parallel to the chaos but completely removed from it.
The building has that lived-in Roman elegance that’s honestly hard to fake. I’m talking about the kind of place where the marble floors have been worn smooth by decades of footsteps, and the wooden shutters actually creak in that satisfying way when you open them in the morning. Marisol – who I’m pretty sure is the actual owner, not just a name on the sign – clearly knows what she’s doing here. The rooms manage to feel both spacious and intimate, which is sort of a miracle in this neighborhood where most places are either cramped tourist traps or sterile business hotels. The beds are proper Italian – firm but not punishing – and honestly, after walking Rome’s cobblestones all day, you’ll appreciate that.
What really gets me is how she’s positioned this place. You’re close enough to San Giovanni in Laterano that you can hear the bells (gorgeous sound, by the way), but far enough from the main tourist arteries that you won’t be dodging selfie sticks on your way to get morning coffee. There’s this little alimentari right around the corner on Via Labicana where the guy behind the counter actually remembers your order after the second day – try the mortadella, trust me. And if you’re one of those people who needs to be connected all the time, the WiFi actually works, which I can’t say for half the places I’ve stayed in Rome. The whole area comes alive in the evenings when locals start appearing from wherever they hide during the day, and you’ll find yourself lingering at the little wine bar two blocks down just to watch the neighborhood transform. Check-in was refreshingly human – no rushing, no upselling, just genuine recommendations about which entrance to use for the Roman Forum (spoiler: not the main one everyone queues up for). That 9.9 rating isn’t inflated marketing nonsense; it’s what happens when someone actually cares about creating a space that feels like Rome should feel, not some sanitized version of it.

Marisol was a wonderful host, responded quickly and made sure we had everything needed. – Tamara from United States – 12 June 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful, clean apartment of great quality. It felt relaxing and home-like. Marisol had things well supplied and offered assistance with reservations and taxis. The location was also safe and ideal for visiting the colosseum and other historical sites. Restaurants and a grocery are just a couple blocks away.
What could be improved: Wish we could have stayed longer!Perfect stay with my mum and 12 year old daughter would definitely come back – Emma from United Kingdom – 4 June 2025 (10/10)
Fantastic location. Marisol met us with the keys and made us a reservation at a great bar down the road she also kindly arranged our taxi home to the airport. Easy 7 minute walk to colloseum and great transport links to all the major tourist attractions. Fabulous cafe for breakfast over the road and great bars and restaurants on neighbouring streets. The terraces were perfect for breakfast, afternoon snoozes and evening drinks . My 12 year old had the make up bed in the study which was just perfect for her with her own en-suite!
What could be improved: It was all greatOne of the best experiences! – Ari from United States – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful apartment in a great location. The street was peaceful but just a few minutes walk to lively bars, restaurants and the coliseum.
The owner couldn't have been more helpful, meeting us for early check-in and recommendations for places in the area. She responded quickly to any queries and sorted us a taxi to the airport at the end of our stay. Beds were comfortable and the apartment had everything we needed for our stay. I was lovely to have breakfast on the terrace. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

What could be improved: NonePerfecto! Absolutely beautiful! – Yvette from United States – 24 May 2024 (10/10)
Perfecto! Marisol is a dream for a traveler. The place is absolutely beautiful I can’t even believe I stumbled upon her. Two decks, plenty of room a fantastic kitchen – and did I mention the art? This is just a charming apartment. Don’t try to shove yourself by a crowded area like Trevi. Rome is so walkable. This place is quiet, safe and her food recommendations were wonderful. Also name me someone who was more attentive – she offered and arranged our taxi for us! What a wonderful experience. Marisol we will come back! Thanks again! Oh the pic I took was of the beautiful building across the street. I love this little neighborhood!
What could be improved: Nothing!Luxurious apartment to become a Roman for our stay – Terrye from United Kingdom – 17 May 2024 (10/10)
Fantastic location close to the Colosseum and Colosseo metro. Balcony for breakfast and another one to lounge with a drink in the cool of the day. The apartment has wooden floors and Turkish rugs with many original works of art which as an artist drew me to this beautiful apartment. How many places can also boast a baby grand piano? The rooms were cool and electric blinds made them dark at night and the beds and linen are comfortable. There used to be a large well-equipped kitchen which we used for making
breakfast. My grandson used the put up sofa in a separate library area with full en-suite to himself. He slept well – mind you he is a teenager! The owner greeted us and helped with any questions during our stay’ There are good restaurants and a shop for provisions down the street. Thank you we loved being ‘Romans’ for the week.
What could be improved: Everything was brilliant – but just a tiny thing maybe a kettle for tea drinkers although we just booked a pan. There is a toaster and toasted sandwich maker too plus full coffee making facilities.Exceptional – Liu from China – 12 April 2024 (10/10)
The landlord was very nice and careful to introduce us to the room and gave us free drinks, and the balcony was very comfortable
