Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Rome, and Maison Evelina on Via del Babuino is honestly one of those gems that makes you feel like you stumbled onto something special. The location alone – I mean, you’re literally steps from the Spanish Steps, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos outside your window at 6 AM. Via del Babuino is this beautiful cobblestone street that connects Piazza del Popolo to Piazza di Spagna, lined with antique shops and galleries that most tourists rush past without really noticing.

The hotel itself has this intimate boutique feel – it’s actually a converted 18th-century building, and you can tell they kept all the character intact. The rooms have these gorgeous high ceilings and original frescoes that you’ll find yourself staring at instead of checking your phone (trust me on this one). What really got me was the attention to detail – the marble bathrooms are stunning, and the beds are comfortable enough that I actually overslept my first morning there, which never happens to me when I travel. The staff, well, they’re the kind of people who remember your name and actually seem to care about whether you’re enjoying Rome. No fake smiles or scripted responses.

Here’s what I love about staying here – you can walk to the Trevi Fountain in about five minutes, but you can also just wander down to Piazza del Popolo for your morning coffee without fighting through crowds. The area gets busy during the day, sure, but by evening it settles into this lovely rhythm where you hear mostly Italian conversations drifting from the nearby restaurants. Parking is tricky (it’s Rome, after all), but the concierge actually knows which garage to use and can help you navigate the ZTL zones without getting a ticket – which, honestly, is worth its weight in gold. The breakfast is served in this charming little room that overlooks an internal courtyard, and while it’s not huge, everything’s fresh and local. They do this amazing cornetto that’s still warm, and the coffee is exactly what you’d hope for in Italy.

I will say the rooms on the street side can get a bit noisy if you’re a light sleeper – those cobblestones amplify every footstep and late-night conversation. But honestly? It’s part of the charm of staying in the heart of Rome. You’re not here to hide in your room anyway. The whole experience just feels authentically Roman in a way that a lot of hotels in touristy areas don’t manage to pull off. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next trip back to Rome before you’ve even checked out.

  • Cheryl from Singapore (10/10)

Our stay at Maison Evelina was almost perfect and completely fuss-free. As a couple traveling from Asia to Italy, we truly felt the warm hospitality that defines this wonderful place. We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner, Alessandro, whose amazing warmth immediately made us feel welcome. Daily breakfast was a delight, served by Jim, who went above and beyond—not only did he serve us a fantastic meal each morning, but he also ensured our room was sparkling clean, surpassing the standards of many 5-star hotels.

Another major plus was the location; Maison Evelina is conveniently situated near all the major tourist areas. We were able to walk everywhere and didn’t even need to take a taxi throughout our trip.

  • Ilan from Israel (9/10)

Just what you need. A cosy small room, clean, equipped with all the essentials. Simple breakfast, friendly staff.

  • Silvestre from Portugal (10/10)

    The breakfast was very good.

The location of the hotel was perfect, close to the Fontana Di Trevi, and to the Metro, which made it easy to anywhere! Near to the shop there are many shops and it feels safe.

We went on valentine's day, and were met with a couple good surprises! We had a welcome letter, a rose, prosecco and chocolates! It was wonderful.

The room had all the amenities we were expecting and more. It was a big room.

  • Johann from Netherlands (9/10)

Whilst the hotel is set in what feels more like two apartments, the room feels like one in an upscale hotel. Very sizeable with a fantastic bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Location is perfect for exploring the city.

  • Bader from Kuwait (10/10)

    Location, breakfast.

  • Meital from Israel (10/10)

  • Sarah from Singapore (8/10)

The location and room size are perfect! The room is spacious like a 1 bedroom apartment. You are literally on the shopping street and just about 10 to 15 mins walk to all the attractions. There are lots of good restaurants around this area. This bed and breakfast serve a decent breakfast. Bed is comfortable. The host, Evelina, is friendly and attentive. Overall, we enjoyed the stay at Maison Evelina.

  • Jessica from Taiwan (9/10)

Excellent location, walking distant to Plaza Spanish and Plaza People. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room is comfortable and quiet. And the breakfast is excellent! It is like a real B&B in England!
