Hotel Description
You know what really struck me about Madonna de’ Monti Suites? It’s tucked into this narrow cobblestone street that most tourists completely walk past on their way to the Colosseum. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute stroll from the ancient amphitheater, but Via della Madonna dei Monti feels like you’ve discovered some secret corner of Rome that Instagram hasn’t ruined yet. The building itself has that weathered Roman charm – thick stone walls that actually keep the summer heat out (trust me on this one) and windows that open onto the kind of view where you can hear church bells instead of traffic.
The suites themselves are honestly what converted me from a budget hotel person to someone who gets why you’d spend a bit more. Each room feels like an actual apartment rather than a hotel box – I’m talking real kitchen setups where you can make morning coffee without using those terrible pod machines, plus enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The design walks this nice line between keeping the old Roman character (original tile work, high ceilings that make you crane your neck) while adding modern touches that actually work. The bathrooms are particularly well done – good water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled in historic European buildings will appreciate, and heated floors that feel incredible on those chilly Roman mornings.
What really sells this place though is the neighborhood knowledge you get just by staying here. The staff will point you toward places like Il Sorpasso for aperitivo or tell you that the little alimentari around the corner closes for three hours every afternoon (learned that one the hard way). Monti itself is having this moment where it’s trendy enough to have great restaurants but not so discovered that you can’t find a table. You’ll walk past locals hanging laundry from their windows and old men playing cards in the piazza, then turn the corner and stumble into some fantastic wine bar that opened last month. The hotel sits right in the sweet spot where you can walk to all the major sites – the Roman Forum is practically next door, and you can reach the Spanish Steps in about fifteen minutes – but you’re staying somewhere that feels authentically Roman rather than like a tourist bubble. Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes sense when you factor in that you’re getting the space and amenities of a much more expensive place, plus you’re in a neighborhood where you might actually want to hang out rather than just sleep and leave.

We had enjoyable trip and stay! – Kathleen from Australia – 13 May 2025 (10/10)
Location is excellent! Close to Colloseum and Palatin Hill. Hop on/hop off bus also nearby. The room was clean and looked like we expected in Rome, not as modern. Restaurants are scattered all around the neighborhood! Communication with Laura was also good, quick response and clear instructions on how to self-check in. Our trip was amazing and we enjoyed our stay at Madonna de’ Monti Suites!
What could be improved: N/AVery good – Michael from United Kingdom – 11 May 2025 (8/10)
Clean, quiet and situated in a street with plenty of good bars and restaurants.

Location was perfect for us. Room is well appointed and charming. Restaurants, bars, mini mart, laundry service, ATM all available in laneway outside apartment. Double glazed windows are a bonus.
What could be improved: NothingComfy bed and nice stay – Bryce from United States – 1 April 2025 (9/10)

Lovely stay, great location – Zenira from United Kingdom – 9 March 2025 (10/10)
A great stay in a great location close to the colosseum. Laura was very welcoming and allowed us to drop our bags off before check in. The room was lovely and very clean, towels were changed in the middle of our 3 day stay.
Amazing place to stay. – Yelyzaveta from Poland – 1 March 2025 (10/10)
At the apartment it was just us. The owner delivered the keys herself and was very helpful, friendly and gave us guidance, where to have a nice meal, which districts are good for restaurants etc. the location of the apartment is amazing. Very close to Colosseum and other attractions, so it was very easy to navigate around the city and still being close to the apartment.
Very easy commute from the airport to the flat. There’s a direct train from the airport to a Termini station, which is nearby the place.
What could be improved: The only one thing that was not pleasant is the noise from the neighbors walking upstairs. The room has wooden ceiling and it felt like someone is walking in our room.Great property. Location, cleanliness and staff are excellent. Perfect for exploring Rome. – Berina from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 26 November 2024 (8/10)
The location is excellent, close to all important facilities to see. The owner is very kind and wants to explain everything about the things that you are interested in about Rome. Everything is clean
What could be improved: Noise coming from the neighbours. The walls seems too thin and you can hear them. That is the only thing I didn't like.Great location and comfortable suite! – Wittmann from United States – 30 October 2024 (8/10)
Our host, Laura, was quick to assist and respond to our requests and to answer our questions. She coordinated for a driver to/from the FCO airport. The suite was perfect for our needs and relatively close to many sites and restaurants. We would recommend this property!
Robert – Robert from Australia – 13 October 2024 (10/10)
the room was excellent. close to Colosseum 😂 local eateries excellent service and food.
What could be improved: nothing.Great location – Bodil from United Kingdom – 8 October 2024 (8/10)
Great location – a few minutes walk only to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum and several bars and restaurants nearby. Very clean.
What could be improved: Little things would improve the place a lot – a mirror in the room not just in the bathroom. Or some shelves in the bathroom so you don’t have to put things on the basin edge or on the floor. Or more than one coffee pod per person per day.
