Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Rome accommodations, and Luna Rossa Roma Guest House honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Via Angelo Bellani in Portuense, which I’ll admit isn’t the postcard-perfect centro storico most tourists flock to, but that’s actually what makes it special. You’re in a real Roman neighborhood here, where locals grab their morning cornetto at the bar downstairs and nobody’s trying to sell you overpriced gladiator keychains every five minutes. The area’s got this lived-in authenticity that you just don’t find near the Trevi Fountain, you know? Plus, you can actually get into the city center pretty easily – there’s a tram line that’ll take you straight to Trastevere, and from there you’re golden.
The guest house itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than some sterile hotel chain. The rooms are actually spacious (shocking for Rome, honestly), and whoever designed them clearly travels themselves because there are outlets where you need them, good lighting for reading, and – this might sound silly but it matters – shower pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. The building’s got character too, with these beautiful high ceilings and original details that remind you you’re in a city that’s been around for literally millennia. I mean, the whole block probably has more history than most American cities. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still in the city – the street’s residential enough that you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 3 AM, but you’re not stuck in some suburban wasteland either.
The staff – and I usually don’t gush about this stuff – actually seem to give a damn about what they’re doing. They’ll point you toward the good pizza al taglio place around the corner (not the tourist trap one), and they know which mornings the local market sets up. It’s those little insider details that make you feel like you’re experiencing Rome rather than just checking sights off a list. The 9.5 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything just works the way it should. The value’s incredible too, especially considering you’re getting a legitimate Roman experience without paying centro storico prices. If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re discovering something rather than following the guidebook crowds, this place gets it right.

Gabriel from Brazil (10/10)
The installations were very clean and organized. In the room you can find a frigobar, a/c, hair dryer, blankets, utensils and everything to make your stay like home, the owner is a lovely person that gave us every bit of information, where to eat real Roman cousine, how to get to places and nice information about Rome. The Luna Rossa is near a train and tram stations that can get you at every point in home, coliseo, piazza navona, fontana di trevi, vatican, you name it.

The room was clean and had everything needed for a solo/duo trip. Very appreciated the microwave and the sink. The room has even a balcony that gives on a lovely inside garden. The house is very close to the station Trastevere and the breakfast maritozzo at Maritozzaro is amazing. The host is very kind, she helped a lot with directions on the best way to get there.

Great location, close to the Trastevere station (on the line from Fiumicino) and within easy walking distance of the city centre, very clean, stylish and well equipped rooms with a lovely garden view and everything needed for a short stay. Katia was an exceptional host, so friendly and welcoming and with great recommendations for transport, places to eat and see.
Yummy breakfast pastry and coffee provided at local cafe La Maritozzo.Jonna from France (10/10)
Katia was amazing! She sent helpful information and recommended good local restaurants. My daughter fell ill and she helped by letting us use the room later than planned.
The location was close to the station and very quiet with the bedroom facing the garden.
It was useful having a kitchen & sitting area that was separate from the bedroom.
