Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Lovely New Home? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – it really does feel like someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a typical hotel. I mean, you’re literally steps from Termini Station on Via Nazionale, which sounds chaotic but honestly works in your favor. The whole area has this lived-in Roman energy that tourist zones just don’t have.

The thing about staying here is you’re in the thick of actual Roman life. Walk out the door and there’s this little bar where locals grab their morning espresso (skip the hotel breakfast and do this instead, trust me). Via Nazionale itself is one of those streets that connects everything – you can walk to the Colosseum if you’re feeling ambitious, or just hop on literally any bus or metro line from Termini. I stayed here in September and the location meant I could duck back easily when those afternoon thunderstorms rolled in. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully modern” – not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but clearly someone cared about the details. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many Roman hotels miss this basic requirement), and the bathrooms have proper water pressure, which… well, if you’ve traveled around Italy you know that’s not always guaranteed.

What really won me over was how the staff handled the little things. Check-in was smooth even though I arrived early, and when I mentioned I was looking for a good place for cacio e pepe, the guy at the desk didn’t just rattle off tourist traps – he sent me to this tiny place near Santa Maria Maggiore that locals actually use. The 8.7 rating isn’t some inflated number either; it’s one of those places that just works without any drama. Sure, you’ll hear some street noise – it’s Rome, not a spa retreat – but the windows are decent and honestly, the sounds of the city settling down at night kind of add to the whole experience. The neighborhood gets properly quiet after 11 PM anyway. If you’re the type who needs to be right in the centro storico, this might feel a bit removed, but I actually preferred having a real neighborhood to come back to rather than being surrounded by gelato shops and souvenir stands 24/7.
