Lion Aparts Rome Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Rome apartments over the years, and Lion Aparts Rome is honestly one of those places that just gets it right. It’s tucked away on Via Fabio Massimo in Prati – and if you don’t know this neighborhood yet, you’re missing out. This isn’t touristy Rome with gelato shops every three feet; it’s where actual Romans live, shop for groceries, and argue about football at the local bar.

The apartment itself sits on the primo piano (that’s the first floor for us non-Italians), and I mean, the moment you walk in, you can tell someone actually thought about how people live, not just where they crash for a night. The space feels… I don’t know, intentional? Like they picked furniture you’d actually want to sit on after walking around Rome for eight hours. The kitchen’s properly equipped too – not just some sad mini-fridge situation. I made coffee there every morning because, honestly, even in Italy you sometimes just want to ease into the day before hitting the streets. The windows face the courtyard, so it’s surprisingly quiet for a city center spot. No 6 AM Vespa symphonies, which your jet-lagged self will definitely appreciate.

What really sold me on this place though is the location – you’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to Vatican City, but you’re also right by Via Cola di Rienzo, which is basically shopping heaven if you need anything from a proper pharmacy to decent shoes. There’s this little alimentari around the corner where the owner remembers what you bought last time (very Roman, very charming), and the Ottaviano metro stop is close enough that you can easily get to the Colosseum or Termini without the hassle. I actually found myself using the apartment as a proper home base rather than just a place to dump my luggage – cooked dinner a few nights, did laundry, you know, lived like a person instead of a tourist zombie. The building itself has that solid, old-Rome feel without being creaky or weird about the plumbing. And speaking of practical stuff – there’s decent WiFi, the shower has actual water pressure, and the bed doesn’t feel like a medieval torture device. These things matter when you’re trying to recover from climbing St. Peter’s dome, trust me.

The Prati neighborhood grows on you too. It’s got this lived-in elegance that the historic center sometimes lacks – real bakeries, normal restaurants where locals eat, tree-lined streets that aren’t constantly clogged with tour groups. You’ll find yourself taking different routes just to peek down side streets, maybe grabbing aperitivo at one of the wine bars that doesn’t have “Colosseum Special” written in four languages on the window. That 9.7 rating makes sense once you’ve been there – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing Rome instead of just visiting it.

Great apartment! We made a reservation for 5 people and it was super comfortable for our group. The place is very clean and nicely furnished. The location is simply great, a walking distance from Vatican, 5-minute walk from the tube station and the area itself is delightful. The owner was helpful, he allowed us to a leave the apartment one hour after the official check-out time. Thank you!

We liked almost everything. The apartment was very nice and very comfortably accommodated our group of four. The location was outstanding- very easy and convenient access to everything we needed. We were in Rome pre-cruise for 3 nights. We did a one day tour of Rome that started at the Vatican, which was only about a 15 minute walk away. Francesco was a delight to work with both before and after our arrival (I communicated with him via WhatsApp on numerous occasions). He was very thorough on arrangements and communications. Francesco even assisted with arranging transportation from the airport to the apartment and from the apartment to the cruise port (he recommended a driver and coordinated with him for us). He was quickly responsive to all inquiries.

I highly recommend this accommodation to everyone! Everything was perfect—the room amenities, the service, and the surrounding transportation all exceeded my expectations. The room facilities matched the description exactly, if not better. Each room is equipped with air conditioning, the beds are very comfortable, and all necessary supplies are provided!
Additionally, the accommodation manager, Francesco, is extremely kind. I accidentally left some souvenirs I bought in the room, and he not only found them but also offered great assistance and helped mail them back to me in Spain. In summary, this is an absolutely perfect place to stay, and it will undoubtedly add joy to your trip!
