Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Roman hotels, and Leon’s Place honestly surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right on Via XX Settembre – you know, that wide street that connects Porta Pia to the Quirinale – and the location is actually brilliant if you want to feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Repubblica metro station, but here’s the thing nobody tells you: you can also walk to the Trevi Fountain in about twelve minutes if you cut through the side streets behind the Quirinale Palace. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel with plenty of cafés where Romans actually drink their morning espresso, not just tourists posing for Instagram.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a classic Roman building and gave it a thoughtful refresh without losing its character. The lobby’s got these beautiful original terrazzo floors – you know, that speckled marble stuff – and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which is rarer than you’d think in a city this size. My room was on the fourth floor facing the street, and yes, there’s some traffic noise during the day, but it’s that gentle Roman hum that somehow becomes white noise by the second night. The AC works properly (crucial in July, trust me), and the shower has actual water pressure, which anyone who’s traveled in Italy will appreciate. What really got me was the breakfast – they do this proper spread with local pastries and actually decent coffee, plus the guy running it clearly takes pride in recommending which cornetto pairs best with your cappuccino.

Here’s what I’d tell anyone considering this place: it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in Rome, but it nails the stuff that actually matters. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the beds are comfortable enough that you won’t wake up with a crick in your neck, and – this is key – you can walk to about six different neighborhoods without breaking a sweat. Want to hit the Spanish Steps? Fifteen minutes. Prefer the grittier vibe around Monti? Twenty minutes the other way. The Baths of Diocletian are practically next door if you’re into ancient Roman ruins without the Colosseum crowds. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the elevator is actually big enough for two people with luggage, which is basically a miracle in these old Roman buildings. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and the whole experience just felt… comfortable, you know? Like the kind of place where you can dump your bags, grab a quick shower, and head out to explore without any drama. For what you’re paying – and given that 8.8 rating from other guests – it’s honestly one of the better deals in central Rome.

  • Quality and charm – Wiktoria from Poland – 18 June 2025 (9/10)

All staff was exceptionally nice, they all carried a warm, positive energy and I interacted with 6 of them. The hotel interior design is interestingly stunning and definitely leaves an impression. Lots of thoughtfulness in details. A memorable stay. I already recommended it to a few of my family members. Makes me want to visit again

What could be improved: The window noise isolation was poor, I could hear the street noise a lot in my room to the point when it was even bothering me with the window closed. I came prepared with earplugs so I could sleep well
