Hotel Description
You know what? Le Clarisse Trastevere is one of those places that gets Rome right without trying too hard. It’s tucked away on Via Cardinale Merry Del Val – honestly, I’d never heard of this street before, but it turns out to be this perfect little pocket where you’re close enough to everything that matters in Trastevere but far enough from the chaos that you can actually get some sleep. The building itself has that understated Roman elegance thing going on, sort of like someone’s well-appointed aunt decided to open a boutique hotel. Not flashy, just… right.
What really won me over was how they’ve nailed the whole “authentic neighborhood experience” without making you suffer for it. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Santa Maria in Trastevere – the real one, not some tourist trap – and you can wander down to the Tiber when the evening light hits just right. But here’s the thing locals know: this particular stretch is where actual Romans still live and work, so you’ll find yourself grabbing morning coffee next to guys in paint-splattered overalls instead of tour groups with matching backpacks. The hotel staff seems to get this too – they’re not overly polished, just genuinely helpful in that Roman way where they’ll argue with you about the best route to the Vatican but then draw you a detailed map.
The rooms are honestly more comfortable than I expected from a 4-star in this part of town. Nothing revolutionary, but the beds are actually good (not always a given in Rome), and they’ve got proper blackout curtains, which – trust me – you’ll appreciate when those church bells start up at dawn. The breakfast situation is solid without being Instagram-worthy, and there’s something refreshing about that. What really matters is that you’re positioned perfectly for the real Trastevere experience: late dinners at places like Da Enzo that don’t take reservations, evening aperitivo in Piazza San Cosimato where the locals actually drink, and those wandering nighttime walks through cobblestone streets that feel like they’re yours alone. The neighborhood gets lively – sometimes really lively – but the hotel’s location means you’re in the good kind of energy without being directly above the bar crawlers. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it.

Location is fantastic and within easy walking distance of most of the central Rome key locations.
What could be improved: Breakfast is great, but as there is no other services during the day it would be good to have access to wine and beer glasses. The courtyard area is great for a relaxing end of day night cap or chill.Exceptional – Clare from United Kingdom – 21 June 2025 (10/10)

Beautiful hotel in Trastevere that was both quiet and lovely. Hotel roof terrace has expansive views over the city and the courtyard was spacious, quiet and beautiful. We walked all over the sites of Rome and were able to reach everything easily from the hotel on foot. Highly recommended.
