Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about La Residenza? It’s this perfectly unassuming building tucked right on Via Emilia, but you’re literally a three-minute walk from the chaos of Via Veneto – and I mean the good kind of chaos, with all those legendary cafés and that buzzy evening scene. The thing is, most people think staying near Via Veneto means you’ll be dealing with tourist traps and inflated prices, but honestly, La Residenza sits in this sweet spot where you get the location without feeling like you’re trapped in a postcard.

The hotel itself has that classic Roman thing going on – marble floors that actually stay cool even in August (trust me on this), and the rooms have these wonderfully thick walls that you don’t really appreciate until you realize you can’t hear a peep from the hallway or the street below. I stayed there during Easter week, which is basically Rome’s version of controlled chaos, and still managed to get solid sleep. The staff genuinely knows their stuff too – not just the usual “turn left at the corner” directions, but actual insights like which entrance to use for the Borghese Gallery to skip the worst lines, or that the little enoteca two blocks down on Via Sardegna has better wine prices than anywhere touristy. The breakfast setup is nothing fancy, but it’s proper Italian – good coffee, fresh cornetti, and they don’t try to Americanize everything just because you’re foreign.

What really sells me on this place is how it feels like staying in an actual Roman neighborhood instead of some sanitized hotel district. You’ve got locals walking their dogs in the morning, that authentic hum of Vespas starting up around 7 AM, and real Romans doing their shopping at the market on Via Collina – which, by the way, is where you want to grab your fruit and decent prosciutto if you’re planning any picnics in Villa Borghese. The location means you can walk to Piazza Barberini in maybe eight minutes, hit the Spanish Steps without taking the metro, but still duck back to the hotel for an afternoon break without it feeling like a major expedition. I mean, parking is still Roman parking – basically a strategic nightmare – but that’s true anywhere in this part of the city. The real win is that you’re close enough to everything that matters without being surrounded by tour groups taking selfies outside your front door at 6 AM.

  • Our stay at La Residenza was ideal. – Dide from United States – 7 June 2025 (10/10)

La Residenza is a classic Roman hotel in a great location. The rooms are clean with updated bathrooms The breakfast included is fresh and servers are very polite. We had a nice experience. Shout out to Asya and her husband the chef. Food at the restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced.

What could be improved: Nothing but I wish they had a functioning rooftop. Terrace was locked

  • Good location in the nice quiet neighborhood. Breakfast is wonderful. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful . – Kingkarn from United States – 10 May 2025 (9/10)

Old mansion and big rooms .

What could be improved: Need to improve the internet. Our bedroom is down stairs in the back of the hotel is no WiFi signal. We been use WiFi from W hotel next door instead. And also in the breakfast area is no signal.

  • Peaceful and quiet – Kathy from United States – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

It was in a quiet, safe and wealthy area of Rome near the Spanish Steps and the US Embassy. I most appreciated coming downstairs for a wonderful breakfast spread with the server making us cappuccinos. That leisurely breakfast was perhaps the most enjoyable part of our visit to Rome.

  • Fantastic! – Maryvictoria from United States – 14 April 2025 (10/10)

Wonderful Boutique Hotel – Hidden Gem in Rome.
Breakfast was included and it was a treat to have a cup of Cappuccino each morning.
We enjoyed several dinners at the hotel and the best focaccia we ever had.
The breakfast, dinner, hotel staff were welcoming and always helpful.

  • Very good – Daniela from Bulgaria – 28 March 2025 (8/10)

The room was large. The bed was also very large and comfortable. Te bathroom was one of the larges we have been with two tabs and bidet. The breakfast was tasty, enough for a good start of the day. Hotel was close to The Spanish steps, Babrberini square and Fountain Di Trevi. There are many good restaurants and cafes around.

What could be improved: We stayed at room facing via Emilia. Every night we were woken up by a very noisy garbage truck and its crew. Early in the morning we were woken up for the second time by another garbage truck collecting glass.
