Hotel Description
You know what’s funny about LA PIGNA? I walked past it three times before realizing this was actually my hotel – it’s tucked so perfectly into that ancient Roman streetscape that it almost camouflages itself against the medieval buildings. The entrance on Piazza della Pigna is honestly pretty understated, which I mean, turned out to be part of its charm. You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Pantheon (and I’m talking a lazy two minutes), but somehow you’re on this quiet little square that most tourists just breeze through without really noticing.
The thing about staying this close to the Pantheon is that you’d expect total chaos, right? But actually, once you step inside LA PIGNA, there’s this immediate sense of calm that hits you. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feel – not stuffy formal, but genuinely welcoming in that way that makes you think the staff actually cares about whether you have a good stay. My room was on the third floor (there’s an elevator, thank god, because Rome and stairs are a whole situation), and honestly, the view wasn’t spectacular or anything, but there’s something nice about looking out at the real Rome – you know, laundry hanging between buildings, locals heading to work, that sort of authentic street life you don’t get when you’re staying in some sterile hotel district. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star place – comfortable beds, decent bathroom, AC that actually works (crucial in summer), and everything’s clean without being obsessively pristine.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the location gives you options. You can walk to Trastevere in about fifteen minutes if you want that whole bohemian dinner scene, or you’re basically already at the heart of ancient Rome if you’re into the tourist sites. But honestly, some of my favorite moments were just grabbing a morning coffee at that little place around the corner on Via del Pantheon (the barista there makes a mean cappuccino), then wandering back through the square when it’s still quiet. The hotel staff seemed to get that balance too – they’re helpful when you need them but not hovering around trying to sell you tours or whatever. One guy at the front desk actually steered me away from a tourist trap restaurant and toward this family place near Campo de’ Fiori that ended up being one of my best meals in Rome. That kind of local insight is worth way more than fancy amenities, honestly. Sure, it’s not the flashiest place you’ll ever stay, but LA PIGNA gets the fundamentals right, and when you’re in Rome, sometimes that’s exactly what you need – a comfortable base that lets the city itself be the star.

The location of the apartment is great! It is in a quiet piazza near the Pantheon. There is a bar across the way for coffee each morning. There is a small grocery store around the corner. Largo Argentina is very near and a common stop on many bus routes in the city making this a great location to base your visit to Rome.
The apartment has 2 bathrooms, a very comfortable king size bed in the main bedroom and two single beds in a loft area which is perfect for kids. There is an AC unit in the bedrooms and living area which cools the apartment quickly (we visited in June so rather hot).Kathryn from Australia (9/10)
I loved the open airiness of the property. It had everything we needed and both bathrooms were clean and spacious.
The addition of the clothes washer and clothes horse, full kitchen, large refrigerator and air conditioning made our stay so comfortable.
My daughter stayed in the loft bed which was very quiet and dark at night. My daughter and I had no issue with the ceiling height, being approx. 162cm tall ourselves, but my husband who is 5’10” was unable to stand up straight.
The queen bed in the main room was big and comfortable.
The apartment is on the 2nd floor but the steps were an easy climb, they also had a small elevator which was good to take the luggage up to the apartment. The apartment was located opposite a small cafe and restaurant. Both had really good food and coffee. There was also easy access for taxis to pick up and drop off out the front.
The location itself was so close to all the sites, 10-15 mins easy scenic walk. We found all the laneways around the property were full of small restaurants, cafes and shops but it wasn’t crazy busy like some of the areas that were closer to the historical sites.Anthea from Australia (9/10)
great location, good communication with host, spotless clean, lovely apartment, separate bathrooms away from each other was great

The location was amazing just 5 mins from Pantheon and 10 mins from Trevi Fountain. Lots of restaurants around. Beds were comfortable, air conditioning was very good too. Doorman was helpful always present and the host was very responsive.

The location was beyond perfect – 5 minutes from The Pantheon, minutes from a grocery store and bus stop, and yet very quiet. All the comforts needed for our family of 5 for a week in Rome: fridge, moka pot, stove top, air conditioning and 2 bathrooms. Everything was very clean.

Location is fantastic. Great that they have an elevator since it is up a few flights of stairs which would be difficult with luggage otherwise.

Great location, right in the heart of most attractions. Maria is a great host. Loved the cafe right in front of the apartment block.

Location is 10/10. Pantheon at 300m, coffee literally in front of the entrance, pizza, sandwiches, 1 minute walk from the apartment. Apartment in the very center of the city where everything is available and close. The area is nice and safe for people with families and small children. The apartment is large and spacious, with two bathrooms, the children really liked it and enjoyed it as much as we did

This is probably the perfect location to visit Rome for the first time. Walkable to many major sites, easy transportation options, and plenty of nearby restaurants (and a grocery store and frutteria!). The apartment is easy to access and well-equipped. We could cook as much as we wanted with the kitchen setup. The host was particularly helpful, even arranging airport transportation for us.
The pictures weren't clear for me to visualize the layout, but the stairs to the mezzanine are right by the front door, and the apartment is shaped a bit like a 7 or L. This was helpful to know, since the mezzanine was more private than I expected. I didn't hear my kids' chatter from the living room area or down the hall in the bedroom.
My kiddos also appreciated Netflix access on the tv to watch a few shows between our tours/hours of walking. 😉Mary from United States (9/10)
The location is unbeatable. In the heart of Rome but hidden from the noise on a quiet and pretty street. The host was great and the facilities exceeded our expectations. The loft area upstairs is better suited for young adults or children. The main bedroom bed was very comfortable. The sofa couch was also very comfortable. The washing machine was easy to use and the kitchen had everything we needed.
