Hotel Description

So I ended up at Julius Caesar Home last spring, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just gets it right. The name sounds a bit grand – I mean, Julius Caesar Home – but it’s actually this perfectly relaxed four-star spot tucked into Prati, which is hands down one of Rome’s most underrated neighborhoods. You’re on Viale Giulio Cesare, this wide tree-lined street that locals actually use to get around the city, so you feel like you’re living in Rome rather than just visiting it.

The thing about staying here is the location makes you feel ridiculously smart. You’re literally a ten-minute walk to the Vatican (I timed it), but you’re also surrounded by these fantastic little cafés and family-run restaurants that tourists never find because they’re all clustering around the Pantheon. There’s this incredible supplì place just two blocks down – Via Barletta, I think? – where locals line up every evening. The hotel staff actually told me about it, which tells you something about how they think about their guests. And getting into central Rome is dead easy; the Lepanto metro stop is right there, plus you can grab the number 70 bus that runs along the Tiber if you want the scenic route.

What really won me over was how the place feels authentically Roman without trying too hard. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance – marble floors but comfortable furniture, you know? My room was on the fourth floor facing the street, and yeah, there’s some traffic noise in the morning, but honestly it’s the sound of the city waking up, espresso machines firing up, people heading to work. The AC worked perfectly (crucial in July, trust me), and they’ve got this great little breakfast setup with actual good coffee, not the watery stuff you get at chain hotels. The shower pressure was fantastic, which might sound boring but after walking 20,000 steps around Rome, you’ll thank me for mentioning it. Check-in was smooth as silk – they held my bags for hours before my room was ready and gave me a neighborhood map with their personal recommendations marked in pen. That 8.7 rating makes complete sense; it’s the kind of place where small details add up to something really special, and you end up planning your next Rome trip partly because you want to stay there again.

    Amazing location

  • Overall great satisfaction with the accommodation, highly recommended! – Éva from Slovakia – 31 March 2025 (9/10)

The location was excellent, right by the metro stop and the Vatican walls. The neighborhood was full of restaurants and nice shops. The accommodation was cosy, clean and well equipped. Communication with the manager was smooth through the Whatsup with intermediate reaction. She came to meet us at the metro station. We were able to check in earlier than agreed. Although the accommodation is in a busy location, the apartment was situated on an inner courtyard and no traffic
noises from the street could be heard at all. So the advantage of accessible accommodation with quiet surroundings. Overall great satisfaction with the accommodation, highly recommended!

What could be improved: Everything was fine, nothing to fault.

  • It's worth coming back! – Oleksandra from Ukraine – 5 July 2024 (10/10)

There was typical Italian apartment. We decided having breakfast in a new place every day. But there was a kitchen, so we could feel like at home. I thought first there should be just a hotel room, but it was an apartment. So lucky we, living 5meters from Ottaviano M station, 10 minutes from Vatican in a typical Italian apartment. Just recommended! Also was a surprise – we can get to the sea side 1 hour way from this apartment. Bus/M & train, 5 minutes walk and you swim in the sea in Rome)

  • Superb – Pavla from Czech Republic – 4 July 2024 (9/10)

The personal was very helpful and very kind.

  • Exceptional – Ma from Philippines – 31 May 2024 (10/10)

The location, the staff and the cleanliness of the room and the rest of the facilities.
