Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Rome apartments, and Italianway’s Barberini Elegantia is one of those places that actually gets it right. You know what I mean – it’s not trying to be some flashy hotel, but it’s got that solid, well-thought-out vibe that makes you feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it.
The location is honestly what sold me first. Via dei Cappuccini might not ring a bell until you realize you’re basically a two-minute walk from the Barberini metro stop, and I mean actually two minutes, not “Rome two minutes” which usually means ten. The Via Veneto area has this interesting mix going on – it’s got that old Hollywood glamour thing happening (you’ll see what I mean when you walk past the fancy cafes), but it’s also surprisingly livable. There’s a little alimentari around the corner where the owner, this older gentleman, will actually remember your face after the second visit and start recommending cheeses. The Spanish Steps are close enough that you can pop over when the mood strikes, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos at your doorstep every morning.
What really impressed me about these apartments – and I’m usually pretty picky about this stuff – is how they’ve managed to keep things elegant without being stuffy. The spaces feel genuinely Italian, not like someone’s idea of what Italian should look like. Good linens, proper kitchenettes that you can actually cook in (the coffee maker works, miracle of miracles), and windows that open properly so you can hear the city waking up. The building itself has that classic Roman apartment feel, complete with the slightly dramatic entrance and the elevator that makes you wonder if it’s been there since the 1960s – but in a charming way, not a concerning way. Honestly, the 8.4 rating makes sense when you consider that they’re not cutting corners on the details that actually matter when you’re trying to sleep or make morning coffee.
The neighborhood really comes alive in the evenings, but it’s not the kind of alive that keeps you up at night. More like the gentle hum of people heading to dinner, the occasional scooter – you know, proper Roman soundtrack. I actually found myself taking different routes back to the apartment just to explore the side streets, and that’s usually a good sign that you’ve landed somewhere with real character rather than just a convenient place to crash.
Here’s the thing – if you’re looking for a place where someone’s going to carry your bags and bring you fresh towels every six hours, this isn’t it. But if you want to feel like you have a proper base in Rome, somewhere you can spread out a bit and settle in, then honestly, this is exactly what you want. Just don’t expect the check-in process to be lightning fast – it’s thorough, which I’ve learned to appreciate, but plan accordingly if you’re arriving with a tight schedule.

What could be improved: NothingDelightful – Akhila from Indonesia – 17 April 2025 (9/10)
Everything was great. The location is exceptional, the staff are informative. The place is neat and very spacious. The only thing is that the elevator was broken when we arrived, but the staff was kind enough to bring our luggage upstairs. And they fix the elevator on the 2nd day. Also the wifi was also troubled when we arrived, they fixed it on the 3rd day. Overall, i had a very pleasant stay.

What could be improved: The apartment is very basic – no espresso machine!!!!
Customer service was terrible we had an issue with the sofa bed – called customer service they said I’d either have a call back or someone would come to the apartment- neither happened! The out of hours emergency line not responding- very worrying if indeed there was an emergencySuperb – Ida from Poland – 11 October 2024 (9/10)

Very spacious -4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and dining room. Nicely decorated, very clean and fresh, elevator and washer, good security.
What could be improved: Dining room with table and chairs, but no other sofa/common area outside bedrooms.Excellent location in reasonable walking distance to the main tourist spots. – Linda from Australia – 13 August 2024 (8/10)
Location
What could be improved: No lounge area for sitting as a group so when we came back to rest the only option was to go to our rooms. The room with the dining table is wasted and could be used as a lounge room insteadI loved the spacious apartments in a very convenient location – Elizabeth from United States – 8 July 2024 (9/10)
Comfortable, cool in the summer heat, and accessible to our large family
What could be improved: There were a lot of stairs and sound echoed up the entire hallway at all hours
