Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about INTERNO ROMA? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – it really does feel like you’ve stepped into the “interior” of Rome, away from all the tourist chaos. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Termini Station, but somehow this place manages to feel like a quiet neighborhood secret tucked along Via di Porta Maggiore.

The building itself has that understated Roman elegance thing going on – not flashy, but solid in a way that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully done” – they’ve clearly put effort into the details without going overboard. The beds are properly comfortable (honestly, after walking around Rome all day, this matters more than you’d think), and there’s this nice balance of modern amenities with touches that remind you you’re in a historic city. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – even being so close to the central station, you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise or those awful tour groups that seem to roam the streets at all hours.

Here’s the thing about the location that the typical hotel description won’t tell you: yes, you’re close to Termini, which is great for getting around, but you’re also in this interesting pocket of Rome that feels more lived-in than touristy. There’s a fantastic little bakery about two blocks down that locals actually go to (you’ll know it by the line of Romans getting their morning cornetti), and the Porta Maggiore itself – this massive ancient gate – is literally right there. It’s one of those spots where you can grab a coffee and just sit and think about how wild it is that people have been walking through that same archway for centuries. The metro connections are solid too, though honestly, I found myself walking to a lot of places because the neighborhood has this authentic Roman rhythm that makes you want to just wander and discover things. The staff seems to get that balance between being helpful and not hovering – they’ll give you real recommendations if you ask, not just the standard Colosseum-Vatican-Trevi Fountain circuit. For a 4-star place, it delivers on that promise without feeling stuffy or trying too hard to impress you with fancy marble everywhere.

Reviews

  • Great location and value for money – Arnav from India – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

    Great value for property

What could be improved: AC remote was not working, had to manually turn on by standing on chair . But as it worked, so all fine.

  • Good – Daniah from Oman – 19 June 2025 (7/10)

    location, staff, elevator, room size.

What could be improved: the bathtub is a bit difficult for people with accessibility issues.

  • Suited our needs well – Lynda from Australia – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

Classical style. Well furnished. Second single bed comfortable.

What could be improved: Lack of cutlery (purely wanted to chop an apple), lack of tea towel because I wanted to wipe my washing up. Kettle lid was broken.

  • All in all good – Iva from France – 31 May 2025 (9/10)

Easy acces to Termini station, surrounded by small coffee places and restaurants, not far from city center by foot

What could be improved: The last night of our stay the water stopped working and there was none in the morning for the shower and proper teeth cleaning

  • Good place .cozy. Staff very nice – Gabriela from United States – 23 May 2025 (7/10)

Very clean . Staff very helpful and attentive. They helped me to get a taxi and fix the Tv

What could be improved: The location . The elevator did not work . Good thing we were on the first floor. Strong smell to humidity at the entrance. Room very humid the first night

  • Lovely stay and beautiful room – Marta from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (9/10)

The room was small but lovely and we had a nice view onto a courtyard. The host kindly agreed to let us access the room much earlier in the day, which was extremely helpful. I enjoyed our stay a lot. The room was equipped with everything you need: kettle, coffee machine, fridge, AC, etc.

What could be improved: The condition of some furnishings, especially in the bathroom is a bit worn. Despite the double room door, it's still a bit noisy from the corridor.

  • A mixed bag. – David from United States – 13 May 2025 (7/10)

The building the room was in was very nice. The room was a good size and clean. We really enjoyed the quiet apt complex and even a very good low tenor vocalizing nearby.
Not really a "like" but it's quite a mixed area transitioning from somewhat shady to very nice within 2 blocks.

What could be improved: I couldn't get the A/C to function but opening the window made the room comfortable within a few minutes. The host unsuccessfully tried to help sort it out via texting. A couple of very weird things: 1) the sound of pouring water, as if it was being poured from one bucket into another emminating from the walls in the lobby and 2) the water is shut off completely sometime during the night. Meaning no water to flush toilet or wash faces or brush teeth when we got up at 4:45AM to catch our flight. The elevator was also turned off. Fortunately, we were only one floor up.

  • I would definitely come back to stay with them. Perfect for two and lots of security. – Maria from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (9/10)

We loved the bed it was big and comfortable. The location was great, there’s a bus stop nearby.

What could be improved: I would suggest some data protection systems for ID’s.

  • Nice, good location, very friendly. – Martin from Slovenia – 18 April 2025 (9/10)

Very friendly staff. We arrived early and room was already ready. If it weren't we could have left our luggage in the reception. Room was nice, the small kitchen was a great bonus. Quite close to the Termini station and metro.

What could be improved: This is an old flat converted into several rooms. Sound proofing is quite poor and you hear the neighbors. We were not bothered by that, but someone else could be.

  • Comfort and quality to spend a night near termini – Julian from Argentina – 19 February 2025 (9/10)

I was there alone and only for one night, the room was fabulous, the staff very friendly, the bed awesome, and the bathroom impeccable

What could be improved: The only problem I had was that at some point during the night there was no more water, so I couldn't shower or brush my teeth in the morning before leaving
