InnsideRome Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to InnsideRome on Via di Porta Cavalleggeri, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The address sounds super official (Piano 1, Interno 1 and all that), but it’s actually just this really well-positioned spot in Aurelio that feels like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks haven’t caught onto yet. You know that feeling when you’re walking around Rome and suddenly stumble onto a street that’s clearly local but still has that authentic Roman charm? That’s exactly what this area is like.

What really got me was how the hotel sits right in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Vatican City that you can practically roll out of bed and be at St. Peter’s Square in about ten minutes on foot, but you’re not dealing with all those tourist crowds right outside your door. I mean, Via di Porta Cavalleggeri is one of those streets where you’ll see actual Romans going about their daily business – there’s a little alimentari around the corner where the owner definitely remembers your face after the second visit, and honestly, that’s worth more than any concierge service. The 4-star rating feels right too – it’s got that polished, contemporary vibe without being stuffy or trying too hard to impress you with marble everywhere.

The thing about staying in Aurelio (and this is something you won’t really appreciate until you’re there for a few days) is that you get this genuine neighborhood experience while still being incredibly well-connected to everything. You’ll find yourself walking past the same espresso bar every morning, nodding to the same locals, but then you’re at the Vatican Museums before the tour groups arrive, or you’re catching the metro from Cipro-Musei Vaticani and suddenly you’re at the Colosseum. The hotel itself has this modern, clean aesthetic that actually feels restful after you’ve spent the day navigating Rome’s beautiful chaos – and trust me, after walking on cobblestones for hours, you’ll appreciate coming back to a place that just works without any fuss. The 8.5 rating makes perfect sense because it’s one of those places that exceeds expectations without making a big show of it. You’re not paying for location, location, location like you would near the Pantheon, but you’re getting something arguably better – you’re staying where Romans actually live, with all the access you need to be a tourist when you want to be one.

Reviews of InnsideRome

  • Excellent stay. Will definitely opt for Innsiderome if coming back to Venice. – Ananthu from India – 10 June 2025 (10/10)

The host was incredibly quick to respond to all my concerns and genuinely tried her best to resolve them. The location is absolutely fantastic, especially if you're planning to visit the Vatican church, as it's very close by. The property itself was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. I would definitely choose to stay at Innsiderome again if I return to the Vatican area.

What could be improved: The curtain and curtain rod fell on my head while I was closing the curtain, which was quite a scare. The AC wouldn't turn on at night, and despite the host's best efforts, it couldn't be resolved during the night.

  • Exceptional – Valentinafgc from Spain – 15 May 2025 (10/10)

The room was homie and with great light. I travel alone and although there is a short walk to Piazza San Pietro, it was great and safe with restaurants all around just in case you dont want to go too far.

  • Phenomenal location! "Roll out of bed close" to St. Peter's and transportation – Alfred from United States – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

`Our hostess, Florence. She made everything easy from check-in to check-out. She's the best!

What could be improved: It's such a great stay. It's difficult to find consecutive nights. Book early and stay!

  • Everything we needed for a brief stay, would highly recommend. – Sarah from Italy – 7 January 2025 (10/10)

Great location, super clean, good quality linens and towels, beverages and snacks in the room a nice touch, no plastic and wasteful single toiletries (they were provided but are eco-friendly pumps), really responsive correspondence with the manager / owner who was very helpful and friendly. Will book again next time we're in Rome.

What could be improved: If coming by car, finding a parking spot is not easy – but that's not the fault of Innside Rome – they do state that there is no parking.

  • Excellent – Giuseppe from Italy – 23 October 2024 (10/10)

Location , room cleanliness and stuff manners and owner courtesy

  • Superb – Shiju from India – 28 August 2024 (9/10)

Marco, the host is amazing and it is very close to the St. Peter's Basilica. Very conveniently located for public transport-bus.

What could be improved: I liked everything.

  • We booked last minute and Marco was extremely accommodating and extremely helpful on our arrival. We had a lovely clean – Nicola from Australia – 24 August 2024 (9/10)

Guest style accomodation within a 5 minute walk to St Peter’s Square and St Peter’s Basilica. Clean, comfortable rooms, close to busses, restaurants and bars.

  • Exceptional – Ocasio from United States – 28 July 2024 (10/10)

Ok it was hard to get bus

  • It was great and I would stay there again – Pfannenstiel from United States – 7 July 2024 (9/10)

I liked the location and how easy it was to access the property. The manager was also great and super helpful. The bed was comfy and great room.

What could be improved: The rooms aren’t soundproof so it’s hard to nap and also no toiletries provided. We also had some loud neighbors at 5 am when trying to sleep

  • Good stay 👍🏼 – Maria from New Zealand – 10 June 2024 (9/10)

Location was perfect. Host was responsive and had good communication with us.
On our first night we had a bathroom pipe burst(?). Our host had the plumber come in within the hour. Due to health and safety issues we needed to relocate to another hotel which the host organised for us on the same night. It was a bit of an inconvenience but I think our host handled it well and promptly. we returned to the accommodation on our last night which we were happy about. We had no other problems here and enjoyed our stay. Thanks 👍🏼
