Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Imperia Suite? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Nomentano that honestly feels more like a neighborhood where Romans actually live, not just where tourists crash. I mean, you’ve got the Sapienza University area nearby, so there’s this nice mix of students grabbing coffee and locals doing their daily shopping – it’s real Rome, if that makes sense.

The hotel itself is pretty straightforward – we’re talking 3-star territory here, so don’t expect marble lobbies or anything fancy. But here’s the thing: the suites are actually proper suites, not just a room with a mini-fridge they’re calling a suite. I had decent space to spread out, which after bouncing around cramped European hotels was honestly refreshing. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too – not that overly polished hospitality thing you get at chain places, just regular people who know their neighborhood. They pointed me toward this little trattoria about two blocks down Via Nomentana that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Location-wise, you’re about a 15-minute metro ride from the Colosseum area, which is actually perfect because you can escape the tourist madness at the end of the day. The Castro Pretorio metro station is walkable – maybe 8-10 minutes depending on your pace. I’ll be honest, the area gets pretty quiet after dinner hours, which some people love and others might find a bit sleepy. There’s a decent gelato spot right around the corner on Via Imperia though, and the morning market scene near Piazza Bologna (just a short walk) was one of those accidental discoveries that made the whole trip better. The rooms can get a bit warm in summer – the AC works but it’s not industrial strength – and you’ll hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper, but nothing too crazy. Overall, it’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard to impress you.

  Interesting neighborhoods nearby to explore. Less touristy, but plenty of delicious eateries to discover! The management was friendly and helpful.

  The room was was large and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The location was lovely, not close into Rome, but a lovely area with lots of food options close by.
  
  What could be improved: The breakfast was a bit odd with very little space for guests to sit and eat. The shampoo and soap were not great. The shampoo was actually terrible and there was no conditioner.
