You know what struck me first about the Ibis Styles Roma Eur? It’s actually got personality — which honestly surprised me since I was expecting another cookie-cutter chain hotel. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this cool contemporary vibe with pops of color that feel deliberate, not like someone just threw paint at the walls. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions.

The location is pretty smart if you think about it. Sure, you’re in EUR rather than stumbling distance from the Colosseum, but here’s the thing — this neighborhood is where Romans actually live and work. You’ve got the metro line B right there (Laurentina station is maybe an 8-minute walk), and honestly, it’s faster to get to central Rome from here than from some of the “historic center” hotels where you’re fighting tourist crowds just to reach public transport. Plus, if you’re flying out of Fiumicino, you’re looking at a much easier airport run. The area around Viale Egeo is surprisingly green too — there are these wide boulevards with actual trees, and you can grab a proper espresso at the bar across the street where locals go, not tourist prices.

The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run 4-star — clean, comfortable beds, decent-sized bathrooms with good water pressure (trust me, this matters after a day of walking around Rome). The air conditioning actually works, which in summer is non-negotiable. I mean, it’s not luxury, but everything functions properly and the design is modern without being sterile. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night — EUR doesn’t have the noise issues you deal with in Centro Storico where you’re hearing scooters and late-night revelry until 3 AM. The breakfast spread is solid, though nothing revolutionary — good selection of pastries, decent coffee, fresh fruit. You’ll fuel up properly without feeling like you’re missing out on some incredible Roman breakfast experience (which, let’s be honest, happens at a local bar anyway). The 7.9 rating makes sense to me — it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who wants to experience Rome like less of a tourist and you don’t mind a short metro ride to reach the major sites, this place actually works really well.
