Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about I Mulini A Vento – this place surprised me in the best way possible. You walk into this converted 19th-century mill on Via degli Scipioni and there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about what travelers need, not just what looks good in photos. The lobby has these gorgeous exposed stone walls that remind you you’re in Rome, but honestly, what got me was how quiet it felt despite being right in the middle of everything.
The location is what really makes this place special, though. You’re in Prati, which – I mean, most tourists have never heard of this neighborhood, but it’s where Romans actually live and work. You can walk to the Vatican in maybe ten minutes if you’re not stopping for coffee (and you should be stopping for coffee). But here’s the thing everyone misses about staying near the Vatican – you’re also super close to Castel Sant’Angelo, which is gorgeous at sunset and way less crowded than St. Peter’s. Plus, Via Cola di Rienzo is right there for shopping, and not the touristy stuff – actual Italian stores where locals shop. The metro stop at Lepanto is a short walk, so you can get to the Colosseum or Spanish Steps without dealing with tourist bus traffic.
What I really appreciated was the attention to detail that you only notice when you’re actually staying somewhere. The rooms are soundproofed properly – you know how Roman streets can be with the Vespas and everything – and the air conditioning actually works, which believe me, matters in July. The breakfast spread is solid too, not just pastries and coffee but actual options. Check-in was smooth, staff spoke great English, and they seem to understand that business travelers and tourists have different needs. The 8.7 rating makes sense when you’re there – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but everything just works. Parking can be tricky in this area (it’s Rome, after all), but they’ll sort you out if you ask ahead. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to feel like I was experiencing Rome rather than just visiting it.

I was impressed by the kindness of the stuff. 🙂 – Iskra from Serbia – 4 May 2025 (9/10)
The stuff was very kind, friendly and helpful. 10/10 for Cristina! 🙂 Area is calm and quiet. Location is very well connected to the airport. The accommodation was very clean. Breakfast is in the near by caffe and it was a traditional Italian brakfast (coffee&sweet croissant).
What could be improved: The room was very small – one bed + bathroom. For those who not eat sweet breakfast – coffee and sweet croissant is not a good and satisfactory breakfast offer.Pleasant experience – Kemal from Germany – 1 May 2025 (9/10)
We had a very pleasant experience with our stay. The host Daniele’s communication was great with clear instructions on how to access the apartment and he was super accommodating with our late check-in and leaving our luggages after check-out. The location is walking distance to Vatican and the apartment is inside a traditional old building with Roma style tall wooden entry door. It was very clean. We regret that we could only stay one night.
Great experience overall – Krzysztof from Poland – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location – very close to Vatican, Metro station nearby, nice neighborhood.
Great service – very helpful and responsive service. Everything well explained and properly set up before arrival.
Good value for money – the room itself is pretty basic, but offers all the most important features. What positively surprised us – it was super quiet. We didn’t hear anything and slept super well.Exceptional – Maria from Slovakia – 6 March 2025 (10/10)
everything was absolutely perfect
What could be improved: nothingNice places and very recommended for everyone to stay here – Ni from Indonesia – 16 February 2025 (9/10)
Over all I love it stayed in this places . The owner so kind and guide you very well.
What could be improved: The shower too small for me .. little bit difficult to move and put soup in my leg.Exceptional – Nikolaos from Greece – 29 January 2025 (10/10)
I can't recommend it enough since you get more than you pay for regarding space, location and access. Christina and the staff there were very friendly and always responded upon need. Bed mattresses towels sheets everything was clean and the bathroom was good as well.
Location is absolutely incredible since it's near the Vatican but also in a safe neighborhood ( let's call it midclass to say the least.) Rome can be sketchy at night in some places , definitely not there …Practical apartment in great neighborhood, friendly host – Annie from Canada – 4 January 2025 (10/10)
We did a late check-in and our host was very responsive and great in organizing our arrival. Optimal position, practical place. Nice breakfast too!
Exceptional – Vitalija from Lithuania – 2 January 2025 (10/10)
A very good location. Metro station only 2 min. Lovely and helpful host.
Overall we had a very nice stay in Rome and the stay at the specific accommodation contributed the most to it. – Μαριος from Cyprus – 5 November 2024 (9/10)
Very good location close to metro station, bus stations and 10 minutes walk to Vatican city. Clean property with every day care. Very helpful and nice stuff. Cristina was our supportive virtual guide. Even the misunderstanding with the taxi to the airport was very well taken care by Cristina. She also suggested a few local restaurants which were far more delicious and cheaper than others close the tourist areas. TIP: use the TicketAppy application and buy a Roma Card to move around the city.
What could be improved: The room was small to facilitate four people. We had one double bed and one camp bed which was not so comfortable.Amazing location, friendly staff, clean room. – Mihaela from Bulgaria – 25 October 2024 (9/10)
The property's location is perfect. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around it. Also, it is very close to the metro station, which allows you to travel to tourist spots.
