Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Houspitality Nero when I first walked up to the building on Via Ricasoli – honestly, the name had me a bit confused and the facade is pretty understated. But here’s the thing about Rome: sometimes the most authentic experiences are hiding behind the most unassuming doors. This little B&B sits right in that sweet spot near Termini Station where you’re close enough to everything but not drowning in the tourist chaos of the Colosseum area.
The family running this place actually gets it – they’ve figured out that three-star doesn’t mean trying to be something you’re not. My room was clean and comfortable (the beds are surprisingly good, which matters more than fancy marble when you’ve been walking cobblestones all day), and I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the train station without the noise that usually comes with that territory. The breakfast is simple but done right – proper Italian coffee, fresh cornetti, and they don’t try to do some weird international buffet thing that pleases no one. What really won me over was how they handle the little stuff. The guy at reception – I think he’s one of the sons – actually drew me a map showing the best route to avoid the crowds when walking to the Pantheon, and pointed out this tiny alimentari around the corner on Via Nazionale where locals actually shop.
Here’s what I’d tell anyone considering this place: it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies, but it nails the fundamentals in a way that a lot of pricier places miss. The location is genuinely useful – you can walk to most major sites (though your feet will feel it), and when you’re exhausted, you’re not stuck in some far-flung neighborhood trying to figure out buses. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me; it’s solid without being spectacular, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in Rome where the city itself is the main attraction. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the building has this lived-in feel that makes you feel like you’re staying in an actual Roman neighborhood rather than some sanitized tourist bubble. Just don’t expect luxury – expect authenticity, and you’ll probably leave pretty happy with the choice.

What could be improved: Air con could have been bit betterA pleasant stay near the metro station – Λίγγρη from Greece – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
The host was super nice, he let us check in early and kept our suitcases the last day (after the checkout) until we had to leave for the airport
What could be improved: The location was quite sketchy…Great location, everything you need – Phoebe from Spain – 29 December 2024 (9/10)
It had everything we needed: coffee machine, cutlery and plates, tap water, etc. The room was very spacious. The location was amazing and very convenient. The woman working there was very kind and friendly!
What could be improved: Our room was next to a busy road and sometimes it was a bit noisy (mainly early in the morning). However, it didn’t disrupt our stay too much.Excellent place for a Rome vacation – Sevdalina from Bulgaria – 18 September 2024 (9/10)
Great location, friendly staff, free coffee/ hot drinks and luggage storage were highly appreciated
What could be improved: Quadruple room was facing the street and was a bit noisyWill not go back only because the bad neighborhood. – Hilary from Netherlands – 15 September 2024 (8/10)
Room was spacious and clean, beds were great. The cleaning woman was super helpful and great.
What could be improved: The location is a disaster, this is the worst block I’ve ever seen in Rome, with lots of ‘business dealings’ going on at all hours of the day and night, very stressful.Excellent would book here again. – Thomas from United Kingdom – 8 July 2024 (9/10)
The room was excellent and the staff were very friendly – They kept us informed of code changes while we were there and were very attentive.
What could be improved: There isnt much around the area really, from what we found, but it is very well connected so there is no issue getting to places around the city!Wonderful place to stay, 15 minutes to Collosseo, there is everything what you need (except a kettle) in a good price 🙂 – Aleksandra from Poland – 25 June 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Lots of deposit in the kettle
Very pleasant accommodation, would book it again. – Helen from United Kingdom – 16 June 2024 (8/10)
Loved having access to coffee making facilities and fridge.
Bed nice and big and comfortable,
Shower hot and powerful.
Friendly helpful host.
Quiet at night.
What could be improved: Termini is close by, and we were well situated for buses. However the closer to termini you go, the more dismal the surroundings, many homeless immigrants and rubbish strewn everywhere. Hardly the fault of the B and B, and fortunately it was also within walking distance to much more pleasant sights.Comfortable stay – Phil from Australia – 8 June 2024 (9/10)
We enjoyed our stay. The Roon was very clean. Close to train station. Comfortable bed. Shower was great
What could be improved: Nothing to dislike.Communication was excellent – Lisa from Australia – 31 May 2024 (8/10)
Great location and value for money
