Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Tritone on Via del Tritone, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this little gem actually punches way above its weight class.

The thing about staying here is the location is just… perfect, really. I mean, you’re literally a 3-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain – and I’m talking about before the crowds descend at 8 AM, when you can actually hear the water and maybe snag a decent photo without someone’s selfie stick in the frame. The hotel sits right on one of Rome’s main arteries, which sounds awful traffic-wise, but honestly the double-glazed windows do their job pretty well. You’ll hear the occasional Vespa symphony in the early morning, but that’s Rome for you – it’s part of the charm, not a bug. The Via del Corso is practically next door, so if you’re into shopping or just people-watching with a gelato, you’re golden. What I really loved though was how easy it was to duck into those tiny side streets – you know, the ones where nonnas still hang laundry from their windows and you stumble across family-run trattorias that don’t even have English menus.

The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but the AC works (crucial in Roman summers), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a mid-range place. The breakfast spread is pretty standard continental fare, though they do make a decent cappuccino. I actually spent most mornings grabbing cornetti from the little café around the corner instead, but it’s nice to have the option. The staff genuinely seem to care about helping you figure out the city – the guy at reception drew me a hand-sketched map to avoid the tourist traps near the Pantheon, which was honestly more useful than any guidebook. Check-in was smooth, no drama, and they stored my bags without fuss when I arrived early. The elevator is one of those tiny Roman cages that fits maybe two people and a small suitcase, but hey, it beats hauling luggage up marble stairs. What really sold me on this place was the value – you’re paying reasonable money to sleep in the heart of ancient Rome, stumbling distance from the Quirinal Palace, and close enough to Termini Station that you’re not dealing with complicated metro transfers when you arrive. Sure, the rooms aren’t huge and the décor won’t win any design awards, but when you’re spending your days wandering through the Forum and your evenings in Trastevere, you just need a comfortable, well-located base. That 8.4 rating makes total sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does exactly what it promises without any pretense.

Reviews

  • Close to Trevi Fountain – Ofelia from United States – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

Adequate hotel with very good breakfast. Very close to Trevi Fountain. Comfortable room a bit smallish

What could be improved: Slow to come elevator; dated decor

  • All good except breakfast – Diego from Argentina – 15 May 2025 (7/10)

All very nice rooms a little small.

    What could be improved: Breakfast.
Coffee expresso machine is like in a super market or school. And all plates and mugs are disposable. Not for a good hotel.

  • A lovely small hotel in the centre of Rome. – Jacqueline from United Kingdom – 28 April 2025 (8/10)

We were upgraded to a room with a super-king bed, which was ideal. The room was very clean. The bathroom was well equipped although the shower cubicle was a bit tight for my husband. There was no space in the room for a chair/sofa but we were only in the room to sleep, so that was fine.
The 5th floor breakfast area was delightful, with roof-top views. The breakfast offered was excellent with a wide range of food and drink available. The staff were efficient and courteous.
The location of the hotel was great; just a couple of streets away from the Trevi Fountain and we managed to walk everywhere we wanted to visit quite easily.

What could be improved: The shower cubicle was a bit small.

  • Very good – Laetitia from United Kingdom – 1 January 2025 (8/10)

Location, size of the room, view from the dining room, lift

What could be improved: Bathroom fan was loud, staff could be quieter when in the corridor in the morning when guests could still be sleeping

  • Great value and recommended – Sharifah from United Kingdom – 18 November 2023 (7/10)

I like it mostly of the location ,very near to the bus station to go anywhere.
Also very near to trevi fountain, Pantheon, lots of restaurants walking distance
Breakfast at the rooftopp is just amazing

What could be improved: They didn’t have iron, apparently it is the rule in Rome

  • Loved my stay there. Wonderful hotel and staff super friendly – Christina from Canada – 10 August 2023 (8/10)

Perfect location. Very easy to take the bus to main attractions.
Excellent staff especially Giuliana. Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly.
Beds super comfortable. Cleaning staff very friendly and accommodating.

What could be improved: Ants in the bathroom and some were found in my sons bed. Nothing catastrophic but minor nuisance. Shower pretty small but I guess normal for boutique hotel in center of Rome.

  • Very good – Maria from Canada – 4 August 2023 (8/10)

Amazing friendly Giuliana made us feel welcome and she was very kind and helpful. Room is nice and clean. Bathroom was very small. Barely could move in the shower.

What could be improved: VERY Small bathroom

  • Centrally comfortable in Rome – Gisele from Netherlands – 24 July 2023 (9/10)

The location was fabulous, right around the corner from the Trevi fountain but without the noise! The rooms were comfortable, clean and with air conditioning. The staff was helpful with proactively asking us if we needed a taxi or tour. As a bonus, Roberto, at the next door restaurant @giaroma.it served us wonderful pizzas and antipasti dishes.

  • Good – Claus from Spain – 12 July 2023 (7/10)

    Location

    What could be improved: Breakfast

  • location, location and location – Yishai from Israel – 5 May 2023 (9/10)

great location , excellent breakfast and very helpful staff

What could be improved: value for money false fire alarm at 6AM
