Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first rolled up to Hotel Santa Costanza on Viale XXI Aprile, I wasn’t expecting much. The Nomentano district isn’t exactly where most tourists plant their flag, but you know what? That’s actually what makes this place kind of brilliant. You’re tucked away in a proper Roman neighborhood where locals are walking their dogs and grabbing espresso at corner bars that don’t have English menus.
The hotel itself sits in this converted early 20th-century building that’s got character without trying too hard. I mean, it’s clean and modern inside – definitely hitting that 4-star mark – but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about it. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feel with marble floors that echo just enough to remind you you’re in Rome, and the staff actually seems to know the neighborhood (they pointed me toward this incredible trattoria on Via Nomentana that I never would’ve found otherwise). My room was honestly bigger than I expected, with proper curtains that actually blocked out light – trust me, after staying in places where “blackout curtains” are more like suggestions, this matters. The bathroom had one of those rain showers that actually works, and the AC was surprisingly effective during those brutal August afternoons.
Here’s the thing about the location that really won me over – you’re about a 15-minute walk from Villa Torlonia, which is gorgeous and way less crowded than Villa Borghese, plus you can actually catch the metro at Policlinico or Bologna stations without fighting through tourist hordes. The neighborhood has that authentic Roman residential vibe where you’ll hear actual Italian conversations drifting from apartment windows, and there’s a fantastic market on Via Chiana (just a few blocks away) where vendors will argue with you about which tomatoes are best. Sure, you’re not stumbling out your front door onto the Spanish Steps, but honestly? After a day of fighting crowds at the Colosseum, coming back to this quieter corner of the city felt like a relief. The WiFi was solid, the breakfast spread was decent – nothing fancy but proper coffee and fresh cornetti – and I never had trouble getting hot water. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Rome rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

cant fault anything at allSuperb – Dragomir from Romania – 6 January 2024 (9/10)
Everything was amazing, the room was very spacious compared to others we stayed in Rome, pretty clean and comfortable. The staff was also very nice. We didn't miss anything and I recommend this Hotel if the distance is not a problem.
What could be improved: The only disadvantage is the distance from the center, but there is a bus station next to the hotel and a metro station 6-8 minutes away. We took the bus and in 15 minutes we arrived at the Termini station.Quality hotel stay in excellent neighborhood. – Steven from United States – 6 October 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: rooms have a pretty old style and they are little bit noisy cause of the traffic in the area.
