Hotel Description

So I’ve stayed at Hotel Rimini a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. The location on Via Marghera is actually perfect if you’re someone who wants to be close to Termini Station but not right in the chaos of it – you know how that main drag can get pretty hectic with all the tourist crowds and street vendors. Here you’re literally a three-minute walk from the trains, but tucked away enough that you can actually sleep at night.

The thing about this place is that it feels authentically Roman in a way that a lot of the flashier hotels don’t. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or concierge service, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff – well, they actually remember you after a couple days. Last time I was there, the front desk guy (I think his name was Marco) gave me directions to this little trattoria on Via Nazionale that I never would have found otherwise. The breakfast isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s proper Italian coffee and fresh cornetti, which is really all you need before heading out to explore the city. One small thing though – the elevator is one of those tiny European ones, so if you’re traveling with big suitcases, you might want to pack light or be prepared for some maneuvering.

What I really appreciate is how it sits right between the university area and the main tourist zones. You’ve got locals heading to La Sapienza mixing with travelers, which gives the neighborhood this nice authentic vibe. The Castro Pretorio metro stop is right there too, so you’re not stuck relying on Termini for everything. And here’s something most people don’t realize – there’s this fantastic little market on Via Milazzo (just around the corner) where you can grab fresh fruit and those amazing Roman sandwiches for like half what you’d pay near the Colosseum. The hotel’s got that lived-in European feel, you know? The kind of place where the radiators actually work in winter and the AC doesn’t sound like a jet engine in summer. Is it Instagram-perfect? No. But it’s the kind of place where you can dump your bags, take a proper shower, and feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than some sterile chain hotel. For the price point and that location, it’s honestly hard to beat.

It was close to Termini for transportation to the interesting sites

What could be improved: We had 2 rooms with air conditioning. Room 1 no problem, Room 2 it only worked as a fan and as air conditioner

  • Convienient location, close to train station. – Desiree from Australia – 17 July 2024 (8/10)

I have stayed here before because of its location. It is so close to the train station and easy to get to, especially after arriving in Rome after a long flight and hauling suitcases around. It is about a 35min walk to the main attractions eg Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon etc, completely doable or the hop on hop off bus and public transport are located nearby as well. Convienient location, lots of restaurants around and access to the train station. Good breakfast selection.

What could be improved: Our initial room smelled of cigarette smoke although it was clean. The air conditioning unit was not working properly but they happily upgraded us to a better room. If you have 3 adults in the room make sure that you get the room with the kitchenette as it is slightly bigger than a standard room for 3.

  • Very good – William from United States – 3 June 2024 (8/10)

    Close to food and termini

    What could be improved: Nothing
