Hotel Regno Overview
You know what? Hotel Regno surprised me. I mean, when you first walk up to Via Del Corso 331, you’re right in the thick of everything – tourists everywhere, street performers doing their thing, that constant hum of Rome that never really stops. But honestly, once you step inside, it’s like someone turned down the volume on the city.
The thing about staying here is the location is actually ridiculous (in a good way). You’re literally a two-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, which sounds touristy until you realize you can duck over there at 7 AM before the crowds hit and have the place almost to yourself. I did that twice during my stay – grabbed an espresso from the little bar around the corner and just sat there watching the early morning light hit the water. The staff at Regno seem to get this too; they’ll tell you the best times to visit stuff without the madness, which is worth its weight in gold in Rome.
The rooms are… well, they’re what you’d expect from a solid 3-star in the heart of Rome. Clean, comfortable enough, though the walls are a bit thin – you’ll hear your neighbors if they’re the chatty type. But here’s the thing: the beds are actually good (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are recently updated. Not Instagram-worthy or anything, but functional with decent water pressure, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’ve been walking around cobblestones all day. The air conditioning works properly too, which in August… trust me, you’ll care about that more than fancy decor.
What really got me was how the staff just knows stuff. Like, the guy at the front desk – I think his name was Marco – he didn’t just hand me a tourist map and call it a day. He actually marked up this little neighborhood map with where to get the best carbonara (not the tourist traps), which pharmacy stays open late, and even warned me that the street gets pretty lively on weekend nights. Speaking of which, yeah, Via Del Corso is busy – it’s a main shopping street – but the hotel’s set back just enough that it’s not like having a nightclub under your window.
The breakfast is… look, it’s continental breakfast, nothing fancy, but they do have decent coffee and fresh pastries from somewhere local. I actually ended up eating there most mornings because it was easy and the coffee was better than I expected. Plus there’s this little courtyard area where you can sit if the weather’s nice, which in Rome is most of the time.
Here’s the real deal though – for the price point and that location, you’re getting solid value. You’re not getting luxury, but you’re getting a clean, comfortable base right in the centro storico where you can walk to basically everything worth seeing. The Pantheon is maybe eight minutes on foot, Spanish Steps are close enough, and you’ve got metro access if you want to hit up the Vatican or Colosseum. I mean, you could spend twice as much and end up somewhere that’s technically nicer but stuck out in Prati or something, spending half your time on trains. Sometimes the best choice is just being exactly where you want to be.

We very much enijoyed our stay at the Regno Hotel on our visit to Rome. The staff also scheduled a car pick up for us to go to Civitavecchia port for our cruise on our expense of course but finding available taxi's wasn't so easy for us so this took of our transportation needs.
