Hotel Description
You know what surprised me about Hotel Raganelli? It’s actually got this really solid, lived-in feel that a lot of Rome’s newer places are missing. I mean, sure, it’s on Via Aurelia which sounds super fancy, but honestly it’s in this part of Aurelio that feels more like where actual Romans live rather than tourist central. The building itself has that classic Roman apartment block vibe – think cream-colored stone and those green shutters that somehow always look perfectly weathered.
The lobby hit me right away with this mix of old-school Italian hospitality and stuff that actually works. The front desk guy (I think his name was Marco?) knew exactly which buses run from the nearby stop and didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – he marked up the real routes locals use. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star, but here’s the thing that really got me: the bathrooms have these massive rainfall showers and the water pressure is incredible. I’ve stayed in fancy Rome hotels where you get a sad trickle, but this place clearly figured out their plumbing situation. The beds are firm in that European way that takes a night to get used to, and honestly, the air conditioning works properly, which – if you’ve been to Rome in summer – you know is basically a miracle.
What really sells this place though is the neighborhood feel. There’s this little alimentari across the street where the owner will slice you the best mortadella you’ve ever had, and two blocks down Via Aurelia there’s a trattoria that doesn’t even have a sign but serves pasta that’ll ruin you for everywhere else. The Vatican is actually walkable if you don’t mind a 20-minute stroll, though I’d recommend grabbing the 46 bus if it’s hot – it drops you right at the walls. Parking is surprisingly manageable for Rome (there’s a garage situation they’ve worked out), and the noise level is totally reasonable. You get some street sounds during the day but nothing like you’d deal with near Termini or the Spanish Steps. Check-in was smooth, they held my luggage without any drama, and they’ve got this little breakfast setup that’s not trying to be fancy but gets the job done with proper espresso and cornetti that taste like they came from the pasticceria down the street. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s the kind of place that just works, you know?

What could be improved: Just a little far out of Rome.. especially when there was a public transport strike. Be prepared to pay around £20 for a taxi into the centre of Rome if you need/want to.Good stay – Enrico from Italy – 18 June 2024 (8/10)
Room was okay, tidy and there was enough space for a single night stay.
Location was also okay considering the location I had to be on that day.
Personnel were nice, polite and available for our requests.
What could be improved: The room may be a bit bigger, especially if you have to stay more than 1 day.
Location is not really central but, in any case, you can easily get some public transportation to the city center.
If the goal is to visit the city center, maybe I would choose a closer location.Friendly and clean hotel. Lovely for a short stay. – Sarah from United Kingdom – 22 January 2024 (9/10)
Property was clean, modern and quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy and shower was great!
What could be improved: Location isn’t great for central Paris, buses were not always reliable and there is no atmosphere in the bar area or on roof terrace. Breakfast was not great- too much sweet stuff. Rolls a bit stale.Very serene location with very friendly staff. I would suggest you bring your own car. – Bongiwe from South Africa – 15 October 2023 (9/10)
