Hotel Description
You know that feeling when you stumble onto a street in Rome and think “this is exactly what I pictured”? That’s Via Mario De’ Fiori for you – tucked just off the Spanish Steps, close enough to hear the tourist chatter but far enough that you’re not drowning in it. Hotel Piazza Di Spagna sits right in this sweet spot, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering.
I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Spanish Steps (though I’d skip them during the day unless you enjoy playing human tetris), and the Trevi Fountain is maybe ten minutes if you don’t get lost in the winding streets – which you will, but that’s half the fun. What really got me though was how the hotel manages to feel authentically Roman without trying too hard. The lobby’s got this lived-in elegance, sort of like staying at your sophisticated Italian aunt’s place if she happened to live in the heart of the city. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – they’ll tell you to grab coffee at the little place around the corner on Via del Corso instead of the tourist trap next to the fountain, and they’re right.
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star in this part of town – not huge, but thoughtfully laid out with enough character to remind you where you are. Some face the street (a bit of noise in the evenings, but it’s the good kind of Roman street life noise), others look into a quieter courtyard. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern enough without losing that European charm. What I really appreciated was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days – good lighting, enough outlets, decent water pressure. The kind of stuff that makes you feel like someone who travels regularly designed this place, not just someone who photographs hotels.
Here’s the thing about this area though – mornings are magical. Get up early and you’ll have Via del Babuino almost to yourself, perfect for that golden hour walk down to the river. But by 10 AM, especially in summer, it’s a different story. The hotel’s position lets you duck in and out of the chaos as needed, which is honestly the best way to experience central Rome. You’re also walking distance to some genuinely great restaurants that locals actually frequent – not the ones with the tourist menus, but the places where they look at you funny if you ask for the check before 9 PM.
The 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for a three-star in this location. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails what it is trying to be – a comfortable, well-run place to stay in one of Rome’s most desirable neighborhoods. You’ll pay more than you would staying near Termini, but you’ll also save time and metro tickets, and honestly, when you’re in Rome for just a few days, being able to walk to the Pantheon for breakfast is worth the extra euros.

I very much liked the location of the hotel, which is very close to the Spanish steps and metro station Spagna. It's a small hotel, family driven and not too crowded. I liked also the food variety for the breakfast, which is not always a common thing in Italy.

This is a great little find, right round the corner from the Spanish steps! The Staff were so accommodating, would definitely stay here again.

Location was ideal. Walking distance to all main attractions and right beside a metro too we used the metro a lot to get to Termani. Had a mini bar if you needed it but a little pricey.
Laura from Switzerland (9/10)
The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The room were extremely clean and done in time every day. The location couldn’t be better, near everything in just few steps. The size of the room were perfect, not little and with space for your clothes. And the temperature was perfect and not cold even if we visit in march. We really loved this hotel and we will definitely hope to only stay here next time we will visit Rome again .
