You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Midas Roma? The moment I walked into that lobby, I actually felt like I was staying somewhere that cared about design without trying too hard to impress. It’s tucked away on Via Raffaello Sardiello in the Aurelio district – and honestly, that’s part of its charm. You’re not fighting tourist crowds every time you step outside, but you’re also not stuck in the middle of nowhere. The Metro A line at Cornelia is maybe a 7-minute walk, which means you can be at the Vatican in about 15 minutes or the Spanish Steps in maybe 25. I mean, that’s pretty solid for Rome.

The rooms have this understated elegance thing going on – clean lines, comfortable beds that actually let you sleep through the night, and bathrooms that feel modern without being sterile. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound insulation. Rome can be… well, Rome gets loud, especially during summer evenings when everyone’s out socializing. But inside, it’s surprisingly quiet. The AC works properly too (trust me, this matters more than you think in July). The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood – they pointed me toward this fantastic little trattoria called Il Sorpasso that’s maybe 10 minutes away, and honestly, it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. That’s the kind of local knowledge you hope for but don’t always get.

Here’s the thing about staying in Aurelio – it feels like you’re experiencing Rome the way Romans actually live it. Sure, you’re not stumbling out of your hotel directly onto the Piazza Navona, but you’re also not paying those insane centro storico prices, and you get to see how the city breathes in its quieter moments. The Barcelo connection shows in the little details too – the breakfast spread is actually good (I’m talking fresh pastries, decent coffee, real options), and the lobby area has this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling rushed. There’s underground parking if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome, though honestly, with the metro connection, I’d skip the car rental drama entirely. The neighborhood has a couple of decent cafes and a small supermarket within walking distance, which is perfect for those moments when you need bottled water or want to grab some snacks. It’s not flashy, but it’s smart – and sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a city that can overwhelm you with options.

  Looks good outside and inside. Amazing, not so crowded pool where you can drink, swim and sunbath. Very comfortable rooms, but we could hear if someone is laughing in another room. We have been upgraded for free to a nicer room with a bathtub:) Breakfast had many option to choose from and tasty. Super nice place for a nice price
  
  What could be improved: The quality of the food in the restaurant that opens at 19:00 was not good. The prices there are of course higher than in other restaurants but not THAT much for the food that taste nothing. Unfortunately, the location is not that good, cause there is only 1 restaurant and Macdonalds nearby. It’s good to book this hotel for 2-3 days to chill from city but not more.

  Bright, modern, clean, spacious rooms with pleasant outlook. Great balconies – means you can open the door and get fresh air which isn’t common in hotels these days. The pool looks like a great way to cool off in summer (was winter when we visited)
  
  What could be improved: Location isn’t central – but we knew this when booking. A daily shuttle service to Rome CBD would be great. You pay less and get a nicer hotel because it’s further out but it’s really nice to come back to

  Rooms are clean, and the staff are wonderful and friendly.
  
  What could be improved: the location is little pet far from downtown however, it is somehow near to the Airport.
