Hotel Description

You know what? Hotel Miami caught me completely off guard. I mean, the name had me expecting some art deco throwback, but this place is pure Roman charm tucked right into the heart of things on Via Nazionale. The location is honestly perfect if you’re the type who wants to walk everywhere – I’m talking five minutes to the Colosseum, maybe ten to Trevi Fountain, and you’re literally around the corner from Termini Station. Which, okay, sounds like it might be noisy, but honestly the rooms facing the courtyard are surprisingly quiet.

The building itself has that classic Roman feel – you walk through these heavy wooden doors and there’s this immediate sense of stepping back in time, but in a good way. The lobby’s got these gorgeous marble floors that echo just enough to make you feel important, and the staff actually remembers your name after the first day (something I’ve learned not to take for granted in busy tourist areas). What really sold me on this place was the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Rome, after all – but they’re thoughtfully laid out with decent storage and, thank god, proper blackout curtains. The air conditioning works well, which is crucial if you’re visiting in summer when Via Nazionale turns into a furnace.

Here’s the thing about staying right on Via Nazionale – you’re in the thick of everything, but that comes with trade-offs. Mornings are pretty calm, but by afternoon there’s definitely street noise from all the buses and tourist groups heading to the station. The upside? You can grab fantastic coffee at the bar downstairs (they make a mean cornetto too), and there’s this little alimentari just two doors down where the owner, Giuseppe, will set you up with everything you need for an impromptu picnic in Villa Borghese. Plus, being this close to Termini means day trips to Florence or Naples are ridiculously easy – you can literally roll out of bed and catch the 8:30 train without breaking a sweat. The hotel’s got this lived-in authenticity that a lot of places in touristy Rome have lost, probably because it’s been family-run for decades. You’ll see the same faces behind the desk, and they genuinely seem to care about making sure you find your way around the city. Sure, it’s not going to win any design awards, but sometimes you want a place that feels more like a neighborhood spot than a Instagram backdrop.

  Very good place in the city 10 minutes for the Trevi Fountain the only issue is that the elevator is slow.

  What could be improved: There were no glasses, just plastic ones. It was quite expensive and no food included, and you have to pay also for 5 years kids (and my son is allergic to several types of food).
