Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Mercure Roma Corso Trieste? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street – Via Gradisca – which sounds like nowhere when you first hear it, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, you’re still in Rome, obviously, but you get this weird sense of being in a real neighborhood instead of tourist central. The Trieste area has this sort of understated Roman elegance that locals love but visitors often miss entirely. There’s a proper market just a few blocks down where you’ll hear more Italian than English, and the morning coffee runs feel genuinely local rather than performative.
The hotel itself feels like someone took a classic Roman building and gave it just enough modern touches without going overboard. Check-in was smooth – none of that chaos you sometimes get at the bigger places near the Colosseum. The staff actually remembers your name after day one, which is refreshing. My room had these tall windows that let in tons of light, and I’ll be honest, the air conditioning worked better than I expected for a European hotel. The beds are proper comfortable too, not those rock-hard mattresses some 4-star places think are luxurious. Only small thing – the Wi-Fi gets a bit spotty on the upper floors, but it’s not terrible.
What really sold me on this place was the breakfast setup. They’ve got this spread that includes actual good coffee (not the watery stuff you sometimes get) and fresh pastries that taste like they came from the bakery down the street – because they probably did. The dining area has these big windows facing the street, so you can watch Rome wake up while you eat. It’s surprisingly peaceful for a city hotel. The location means you’re about a 15-minute metro ride from the Spanish Steps, but here’s the thing – the Trieste neighborhood has its own charm. There’s Villa Ada park nearby if you need green space, and the restaurants around here cater to Romans, not tourists, which means better food and normal prices. Plus, you can actually find parking in this area if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome. The 8.4 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but it does everything well without any major complaints. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want after a long day of fighting crowds at the Vatican.

Reviews
Beautiful, ultra-clean rooms that make for a comfortable stay. – Berteli from Taiwan – 9 June 2025 (8/10)
The rooms were the highlight—super clean, beautifully decorated, and more impressive than the hotel’s general amenities. Good breakfast variety, conveniently located, though not walking distance from the city center buzz. Super nice area though, Coppede is a must see in Rome.
What could be improved: Some common areas and amenities felt a bit underwhelming compared to the quality of the rooms, but still great service.Perfect stay for a short city break – Sarah from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
We had such a great stay at Mercure Roma Corso Trieste. The hotel is modern, stylish, and super comfortable – perfect if you’re looking for a quieter spot away from the chaos of central Rome. It’s set a little further out, but honestly, getting around was a breeze with the nearby metro and the occasional Uber. A special shoutout to Andrea, who went above and beyond with his friendly, helpful service.
What could be improved: My only negative is that the air con seems to be on a timer so the rest of the time, the system works as just a fan, which makes the room quite warm!I totally recommend staying at this hotel. – Mihai from Romania – 4 June 2025 (9/10)
Great location and great service !
Very good – Ioan from United Kingdom – 1 May 2025 (8/10)
Lovely hotel. Maybe 10 mins via taxi a bit further out than ideal but not major problem.
What could be improved: Not as close to landmarks as hoped.Lovely staff. Clean room. Average location. Old hotel. – Özge from Turkey – 18 April 2025 (8/10)
The staff were lovely and fulfilled our needs immediately every slngle time. The room was clean. The complimentary drinks in fridge were nice. The location was average – 55 min walk to Piazza Poppolo, 10 minute walk to the metro station.
What could be improved: The room was very small though we stayed in an upgraded room. We could hardly move and had very little space for luggage. There was not a luggage rack either and I am not a fan of emptying the whole luggage into the wardrobe. The towels were weary and very thin. The shower window was weird, impossible to keep water going out. The room was old and needs renovation. Not a good experience for the money spent on this hotel – Gabriela from Romania – 24 March 2025 (8/10)
The hotel is in a quiet area of Rome, the breakfast was very good
What could be improved: I reserved a twin room and they gave me a double because the hotel was fully booked(I mare the reservation 3 months before).Superb – Thanetmag from United Kingdom – 17 March 2025 (9/10)
Everything worked well and the staff were helpful
A lovely stay in a very well run and comfortable hotel. – Farrah from Gibraltar – 14 January 2025 (9/10)
Rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and it had a cozy feel about it. Metro is a short walk away so even though you aren’t central it is very easy to get around.
What could be improved: Our hot tub didn’t stay full so needed topping up after an hour or so. Didn’t try the restaurant so can’t comment on that.We had a confabale stay – Egerton from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was reasonable for a buffet.
What could be improved: Meat & eggs were cold if you were not there when dished upSuperb – Lidiia from United States – 30 December 2024 (9/10)
Good breakfast, nice room
