Hotel Marisa Overview

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hotel Marisa – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, but honestly gets the job done better than hotels twice the price. The location on Via Marsala is actually pretty genius if you know Rome at all. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Termini Station, which sounds touristy until you realize how incredibly useful that is. I mean, you can grab the Leonardo Express straight to the airport, hop on the metro to anywhere in the city, or catch those regional trains to Florence without dealing with Rome’s notorious traffic.

The building itself has that classic Roman charm – you know, the kind with thick walls that actually keep the street noise out (trust me, this matters when you’re staying near the station). The rooms are clean and comfortable, nothing Instagram-worthy but everything works properly. The AC is decent, which is crucial if you’re visiting in summer, and the beds are surprisingly good for a 3-star place. What I really appreciated was the breakfast situation – they do this simple Italian spread with proper espresso and fresh cornetti, not the sad continental buffet you get at chain hotels. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the city, too. When I asked about getting to Trastevere for dinner, the guy at the front desk actually drew me a little map showing which tram to take and where to get off.

Here’s what sold me on this place though – it sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to major sites like the Baths of Diocletian or Santa Maria Maggiore, but you’re not paying those crazy centro storico prices. The neighborhood has this authentic Roman feel with actual locals doing their shopping and kids playing in the small piazzas. There’s a fantastic little trattoria called Da Valentino just around the corner on Via del Viminale that serves the kind of cacio e pepe that makes you understand why people obsess over Roman pasta. The only minor downside is that you’ll hear some train announcements if you’re a really light sleeper, but honestly, after a day of walking around Rome, I slept like a baby. For the price point and the genuine Roman experience you get, Hotel Marisa delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

  • Good place to stay in case of need – Jennifer from United States – 2 July 2025 (7/10)

    Proximity to train station, cleanliness

What could be improved: Shower didn’t drain properly

  • Perfect stay in Rome – Tina from Sweden – 2 July 2025 (8/10)

Me and my mother stayed here for 4 days, we are more than satisfied. Perfekt location near the termini station and the hotel is within walking distance to all attractions. All the staff were very nice and helpful, especially Giulio who made us laugh and a ”special cappuccino” every morning. Breakfast was above our expectations. We would really recommend this hotel.

What could be improved: The door in the shower was broken so it could not be closed, but we got a lot of towels to dry the floor so it was not a big problem

We liked the location. It was extremely convenient just 2 minutes from the Roma Termini! The beds were very comfortable and all the staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely money's worth. There's a department store right across the hotel and that was really very convenient.

Location was good as near the main train station – this made airport transfers very easy
