Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hotel Julia – it’s one of those places that gets everything right without trying too hard. You know how some hotels feel like they’re performing for you? This isn’t that. It’s tucked away on Via Rasella, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (the street’s narrower than you’d expect), but once you realize you’re basically around the corner from the Trevi Fountain, it all clicks.
The thing about this location is that you’re in the thick of everything, but somehow the hotel itself feels removed from the chaos. I mean, step outside and you’re immediately swept into that beautiful Roman madness – tourists everywhere, gelato vendors, the constant hum of Vespas – but inside, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The rooms aren’t huge, which you’d expect for a 3-star in this part of Rome, but they’re thoughtfully done. Clean lines, decent beds, and actually functional air conditioning, which matters more than you think when you’re walking around the city all day in summer heat. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and I appreciated little touches like having enough outlets near the bed (hotels get this wrong constantly).
What really won me over was the staff’s approach to recommendations. Instead of handing you a generic tourist map, they’ll tell you things like which entrance to use for the Pantheon to avoid the worst crowds, or that the best supplì in the neighborhood is at the little place on Via del Tritone, not the flashy spots everyone photographs. They get that you’re staying here because you want to experience Rome, not just check boxes. The breakfast is solid – nothing fancy, but proper espresso and decent pastries, plus they don’t rush you out if you want to linger over your cappuccino while planning your day. One small thing that bugged me: the Wi-Fi can be spotty on the upper floors, so if you’re planning to work remotely, maybe mention that when you book. Also, if you’re someone who needs absolute silence to sleep, the street-facing rooms can pick up some noise – it’s not terrible, but Rome doesn’t really sleep, you know? Overall though, Hotel Julia hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that locals might actually recommend to their friends, not just another tourist trap with inflated prices and zero personality.

Great location close to Palazzo Barbarini, staff helpful, fluent English, room clean and quiet, I slept very well.
What could be improved: Coffee and limited choice of pastries for breakfast were inexpensive but better options available in cafes nearby. The area is special and this older hotel has wonderful attributes – David from Canada – 25 April 2025 (7/10)

What could be improved: Was charged extra after booked will try to get refundedGreat place to rest then go out and see the sights. – Tom from United Kingdom – 29 March 2025 (8/10)
Location was great. Easy access to restaurants close by and tourist locations.
What could be improved: Breakfast was very limited, to a few items kept on the bar under a glass dome, think they may have even been there over night, understand breakfast is not a huge thing in Italy but more than 2 types of pastry and a cake.Perfect stay in a convenient location around the corner from the Trevi Fountain. – Lynda from United Kingdom – 23 February 2025 (8/10)
Perfect location to walk to all places of interest. Room a good size.
Staff very friendly.
Small bar useful for a drink on the way out.
What could be improved: The shower took forever to heat up.Apart from the uphill walk, my stay was great—the hotel was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful – Nabila from United Arab Emirates – 9 February 2025 (8/10)
Nice and clean property. Helpful staff.
What could be improved: Hotel is located on a slight incline making it difficult to walk with luggage.Great location in the great city – Larisa from United States – 22 November 2024 (9/10)
Location is excellent.
What could be improved: Some coffee maker in the room would be great.Great location for families to explore all of Rome! – Matthew from United Kingdom – 29 October 2024 (8/10)
Location is superb, close to the Trevi Fountain/ Barbarini and walkable from Termini. From the upper floor there is a nice view of the trees in the Quirenel Palace gardens. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and spacious enough for a family of 4. Local restaurant choice was very good.
What could be improved: There is a bar, but on the occasions we tried to get a drink no staff were about.
