Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Hotel Impero on Via del Viminale, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones that surprise you. This little spot sits right in that sweet zone where you’re close enough to Termini Station that you can literally roll your suitcase there in five minutes (trust me, I’ve done it), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with all the chaos and sketchy characters that hang around the station at night.
The thing about this hotel is that it actually feels Italian, if that makes sense. The lobby has this old-world charm – marble floors that echo when you walk across them, and the staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out Rome rather than just checking you in and forgetting about you. I mean, the guy at the front desk spent ten minutes drawing me a map showing the best route to avoid tourist traps near the Colosseum, and he was right about everything. The rooms are what you’d expect for the price point – clean, functional, nothing fancy but everything works. The AC actually cools the room down (which honestly isn’t a given in Rome), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. Sure, the bathrooms are a bit compact, but the water pressure is solid and the towels don’t feel like sandpaper.
Here’s what really sold me on the place though – the location is pure gold for actually exploring Rome like a person, not a tourist. You’re a quick walk from Repubblica metro station, which connects you to everywhere you need to go, but more importantly, you’re in this neighborhood where real Romans live and work. There’s this little café around the corner – I think it’s called Bar Centrale or something – where you can get proper espresso and cornetti in the morning without paying tourist prices. And honestly, being near Termini means you’ve got easy access to those regional trains if you want to do day trips to places like Tivoli or Frascati. The whole area comes alive in the evening too, with locals heading home from work and stopping at the wine bars along Via Nazionale. I stayed there during shoulder season in October, and while it got busy during the day, evenings were pretty peaceful – you could actually open the windows without too much street noise. For the price and that 8.2 rating, Hotel Impero delivers exactly what it promises: a comfortable, well-located base for exploring Rome without breaking the bank or feeling like you’re staying in some corporate chain that could be anywhere in the world.

Reviews
Charming petite hotel, perfect distance from the transport hub. – Jiaoying from China – 6 July 2025 (9/10)
As a hotel, it supplies all the functions of a traveler’s needs. The room is rather small but enough to open my luggage, the facilities are not brandy new but all functional. Sound proof for as much as they can, daily cleaning…
The location is perfect! 5 minutes walk to the station termini, which is literally the center of everything— train/bus to airport, subway and hop on/ hop off travel bus, and many bus routes to all over Rome. And, you can find food with stable quality!
The hotel staff are all very kind and patient, willing to help you with anything anytime, and they always give you the right information! I was once confused the front desk gave me information different from what I got online, turns out, he’s right!
Some may find the heavy key is out of time, but for me it’s most charming. Every time you came back from outside and get the key from the desk is almost a ritual.
BTW, it’s right next to the Opera House so I actually got a chance to enjoy a night with opera!
What could be improved: The breakfast, I tried it the morning before I leave, would be a lie if I say it’s great…Superb – Calb from Argentina – 5 July 2025 (9/10)
The breakfast was incredible . It has a big variety of food It cost 10 euros
What could be improved: –clean, great location and good price, helpful staffs, but little bit inconvenient facilities for example the plugs – Xie from United Kingdom – 22 June 2025 (8/10)
Great location, near the train station. Very clean, with good price
What could be improved: Very few plugs for charging the phone. bad sound proofLuxury and comfortable stay – Şükrü from Turkey – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
The hotel’s location was excellent. If the weather conditions are suitable, it is possible to walk to all major spots. The staff were also very helpful. It’s perfect choice for a smooth check-in and stay.
What could be improved: Rooms were a little bit small. If you have more than one big size luggage, it can be hard to move inside the rooms. But it was OK for us since we had 2 small size.Very nice, great location. – Michael from United States – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
Perfect location in downtown Rome, near all the important tourist sites.
What could be improved: A trifle dated, but in a charming sort of way.Superb – Jack from United States – 6 June 2025 (9/10)
Very pleasant stay in a well-run hotel. Nice location right next the Termini train station and close to to some good restaurants, museums and other main attractions and other neighborhoods. The room was clean and good size, I liked the high ceilings and big windows. Bed was comfortable. Shower water stayed nice and hot. Perfect for those looking for somewhere to get in and out of Rome easily.
What could be improved: If you're very sensitive to light traffic noise, make sure to ask for a room that doesn't face the street. Would have loved breakfast included, but that's ok.Very good – Hussein from Libya – 21 May 2025 (8/10)
The location is great just near by most attractions
What could be improved: It’s very quiet and cleanNice/clean hotel. Good location 5 min walk from the train station – David from United Kingdom – 20 May 2025 (9/10)
We booked this last minute and for the price we paid we were happy with the hotel and service provided.
Lots of nice bars/ restaurants nearby
What could be improved: The air freshener they used in the room was VERY strong and gave us a headache. This issue was resolved very quickly and the staff were very helpful to get us new bedding etcSuperb – Cathal from Ireland – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
Very good location.
Very good – Larissa from Canada – 14 May 2025 (8/10)
Excellent continental breakfast, staff were friendly and we were able to leave our luggage at no additional charge while we toured the city!
What could be improved: The AC unit was not very powerful.
