Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Erdarelli? It’s tucked into this narrow side street just off Via del Corso, and honestly, I almost walked right past it. But that’s actually perfect because once you’re inside, you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups missed. The lobby’s got this old-world Roman charm – not fancy, mind you, but authentic in a way that makes you want to settle in with an espresso and people-watch through the windows. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting you sorted, which I mean, sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is in central Rome.
Location-wise, this place is pretty brilliant if you ask me. Via Due Macelli puts you literally two minutes from the Spanish Steps – I timed it because I’m nerdy like that – but you’re on this quieter street so you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of selfie sticks and street performers. The Trevi Fountain is maybe a seven-minute walk, and here’s something locals know: if you cut through the little alleyway behind the hotel in the mornings, you’ll hit Via del Tritone where there’s this incredible cornetto place that opens at 6 AM. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re honest three-star rooms. Clean, comfortable beds, decent bathrooms, and the AC actually works (crucial in Roman summers, trust me). Some face the street and get a bit of noise – Rome’s never truly quiet – but others look into this charming little courtyard that feels almost medieval.
What really won me over was how the place just works without any fuss. Check-in was smooth, they held my luggage after checkout so I could wander around my last day, and the concierge – this older gentleman who’s probably seen every tourist question imaginable – actually gave me directions to places I hadn’t even heard of. The breakfast is simple but good, with proper Italian coffee that’ll wake you up for all that walking you’re about to do. I’ll be honest, don’t expect luxury here, but if you want a solid base in an unbeatable location where you can drop your bags and dive into the real Rome, Erdarelli delivers. Plus, and this matters more than you might think, the elevator actually fits two people and their luggage – small detail, but your back will thank you after a day of cobblestone streets.
