Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Diocleziano? It’s one of those rare finds near Termini Station that doesn’t feel like a transit hotel at all. I mean, Via Gaeta is literally a three-minute walk from the main station, but somehow the street itself feels surprisingly quiet – especially considering you’re in the heart of Rome’s transport hub. The building has this classic Roman elegance that makes you forget you’re staying somewhere so practical. Honestly, I was expecting something more sterile given the location, but the lobby actually has character with its marble floors and that sort of understated Italian sophistication that doesn’t try too hard.
The rooms are what really won me over though. They’re not huge (this is central Rome, after all), but everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than cramped. The AC works properly – and trust me, that’s not always a given in Roman hotels during summer. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night, even on the street-facing rooms. You’d think being so close to Termini would mean constant noise, but the windows are solid and the street doesn’t get the heavy traffic you’d expect. The bathrooms are modern without being flashy, and the water pressure is actually decent, which anyone who’s stayed in older Roman hotels will appreciate. One small thing that shows attention to detail – the electrical outlets are positioned where you’d actually want them, not hidden behind furniture like so many places.
But here’s the real advantage of this spot that most people don’t realize: you’re not just convenient to the station, you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Baths of Caracalla in fifteen minutes, or head up toward the Colosseum without dealing with the tourist crowds from the main routes. The neighborhood around Via Gaeta has some genuine local spots too – there’s this family-run trattoria about two blocks down that serves better carbonara than half the places in Trastevere, and none of the tourists find it because it’s not on the obvious path. The hotel staff actually knows the area well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the standard tourist circuit. During my stay, the front desk guy steered me toward a morning market that I never would have discovered otherwise. The 9-star rating makes sense once you experience the service level – they’re professional without being overly formal, and they seem to genuinely want you to enjoy Rome rather than just get through your stay.

Excellent location. Easy walk from the Roma Termini. Comfortable rooms. Nice continental breakfast. What made our stay perfect was the amazing staff. They were all wonderful. In particular, we wanted to mention Tharidu, who works the night shift. We enjoyed chatting with him late at night (awake because of jet lag). He gave us so much great information and advice about Rome. If we return to Rome, this hotel will be at the top of our list.

The room was very clean and comfortable. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good. The location was very good. Termini Roma station is just five minutes walking distance. If you want you can go directly between the Fuimicino Airport and Roma termini station by train. In addition there are more other options. By the way subway stop is five minutes walking distance too. In short, it is easy to reach everywhere from here. We preferred to walk to many places.

The location is fantastic, literally 2 minutes walk from the Termini (Rome's main railway station). The staff are really nice and helpful (special shoutout to Lorenzo on the night desk who is amazing and the sweet lady in charge of breakfasts). I would certainly stay here again.
