Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Buenos Aires? The name threw me off completely – I mean, here I am walking down Via Clitunno expecting some grand Argentine-themed place, but it’s actually this refreshingly unpretentious Roman hotel that just happens to have a quirky name. Sometimes the best finds are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you.

The location is honestly pretty sweet if you know Rome a bit. You’re up in the Parioli area, which most tourists completely skip, but it’s where actual Romans live and work. There’s this authentic neighborhood feel – you’ll hear Italian conversations at the corner bar instead of English, and the morning routine feels real, not performative. Via Clitunno itself is quiet (thank god, because Roman traffic can be brutal), but you’re literally a five-minute walk to Villa Borghese if you want to escape the city buzz. The Metro’s close enough – Flaminio station – though honestly, I found myself walking more than I expected because the tree-lined streets up there are actually pleasant.

What I really appreciated was how the hotel just… works. It’s a solid 3-star that knows exactly what it is. The rooms aren’t Instagram-worthy, but they’re clean and comfortable, with those heavy European curtains that actually block out light (crucial if you’re jet-lagged). The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than scripted – when I asked about getting to Trastevere for dinner, the guy at the front desk drew me a little map showing the bus route locals use instead of just telling me to take a taxi. Small thing, but it matters. The breakfast was typical continental fare, nothing fancy, but the coffee was proper Italian strong, and you could sit outside in their little courtyard area on nice mornings.

I’ll be honest – it’s not the kind of place you’d book if you want to feel pampered or if you need to be stumbling distance from the Colosseum. But if you’re the type who likes to experience a city rather than just tick off monuments, this spot works really well. The neighborhood has that lived-in Roman feeling, with family-run shops and locals walking their dogs in the villa. Plus, and this is key for Rome, parking is actually manageable around there if you’re driving, and the area doesn’t turn into a tourist circus at sunset like the historic center does.

The 7.7 rating seems about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s reliable and well-located if you appreciate being in a real Roman neighborhood rather than the tourist bubble. I’d definitely stay there again, especially in spring when you can really take advantage of Villa Borghese being right there.

Reviews

  • Very good – Rosemary from United Kingdom – 19 June 2025 (8/10)

The location was perfect for visiting family living nearby.
    Breakfast was good.

What could be improved: Our room was very small. The sink plug did not work, and the shower was tiny.

  • I think it’s a good option if you come to Rome to enjoy the city, not to stay in the hotel. It’s clean, quite and the st – Elizaveta from Spain – 25 October 2024 (8/10)

In general everything was good, though the property seemed quite old. I was worried to hear different sounds from others room or outside, but it was perfect, so quite

What could be improved: I was surprised to have breakfast included in my stay. Even though I was happy to have it, it could have been better – there were no hot options, like omelette or porridge. In general it wasn’t really tasty, but al least I didn’t have to find where to eat and pay extra money for something in the restaurant

  • Superb – Julien from Italy – 22 September 2024 (9/10)

    Space in the room, silence

What could be improved: Breakfast is minimal but ok

  • Wonderful – great breakfast, good helpful staff! – Kokinda from United States – 14 September 2024 (9/10)

    Clean and great location!

What could be improved: Room needs some updates, especially in the bathroom. Paint and wood replacement.

  • Good – Satadru from United Kingdom – 26 August 2024 (7/10)

My room in Hotel Buones Aires was cosy, clean and comfortable. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quite neighbourhood. It is not very far from Roma Termini (the central station), has a direct bus link from the central station and is also well connected to central Rome by public transport. The room had good air conditioning which was a very comforting after spending a day out in the hot weather. The staff in the hotel were very nice and helpful in answering questions. The breakfast was sumptuous and good value for its price. Overall, I had a nice stay at the hotel.

  • Nice hotel, helpful staff and quiet location. – Eli from United Kingdom – 17 June 2024 (9/10)

Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet location. Lovely breakfast with great choice of coffee, pastries and cakes. Thank you.

  • An excellent and convenient place – Lidia from South Africa – 10 December 2023 (9/10)

The place is located in an excellent place.

  • A safe comfortable place to rest after a day of sightseeing! – Mary from United States – 7 November 2023 (9/10)

This hotel was highly recommended by other family members who are frequent guests at the hotel. Loved the quiet neighborhood and the staff was awesome. The staff spoke excellent English, and were helpful in many ways such as setting up taxis and recommending shopping areas. They were especially responsive when asked for things like an extra blanket. Check-in and out was easy and without surprises. The room was comfortable for two women sharing the same room with two twin beds. Lovely shower and clean bathroom!

What could be improved: The hotel does have a worn appearance – especially the carpets in the lobby and on the steps – as this is the first visual upon entering – it does not give a great welcome. Once inside with the staff one forgets the worn carpet but nevertheless, the carpet probably needs a refresh.

  • Great stay in a good location, close to shops, grocery stores, and bus stops. – Erin from Nigeria – 24 September 2023 (8/10)

It was in a location that was exactly where I needed. The staff were friendly and always available.

  • Really nice place – Laveena from United Kingdom – 3 September 2023 (9/10)

    Location

    What could be improved: Nothing
