I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Hotel Artis on Via Fancelli, I wasn’t expecting much. The street’s pretty quiet, tucked away in what feels like a residential pocket of Rome, and from the outside it’s got that understated Italian elegance thing going on without being flashy about it. But you know what? That actually ended up being one of its best features.

The location is sort of perfect if you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re staying in a real Roman neighborhood rather than right in the tourist madness. You’re in the Ponte Galeria area, which – okay, it’s not exactly the historic center, but here’s the thing: you can actually get a decent night’s sleep here, and the metro connections aren’t terrible once you figure them out. Plus there’s this great little café about two blocks down that the hotel staff pointed me toward, and I mean, their cornetti in the morning… that’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference. The rooms themselves feel properly Italian – not trying too hard to be modern, but comfortable in that lived-in way. I stayed on the third floor and honestly, the soundproofing was better than I expected, though you’ll still hear the occasional scooter buzzing by (it’s Rome, after all).

What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to know the area – like, really know it, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I mentioned I was looking for a good place to grab dinner that wasn’t going to cost me half my travel budget, the guy at the front desk gave me directions to this family-run trattoria that I never would have found otherwise. The hotel itself has that solid 4-star feel without any pretension – the lobby’s got character, the breakfast spread is decent (though skip the coffee downstairs and walk to that café I mentioned), and the whole place just feels… well, authentic, I guess. You’re not paying for marble everything or some fancy rooftop pool, but you’re getting a genuine Roman experience in a neighborhood where actual Romans live and work. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to give you exactly what you need: a comfortable base in a city that can be overwhelming, run by people who actually care about making sure you have a good time.

  Very nice place, perfect for what we wanted, a nice comfortable bed, in a nice quiet area, with easy transport to the centre of Rome, although it was quite a journey, over an hour and half with public transport.

  Near to Allesandria metro station 10 minutes walk from hotel . Hotel is in a residential area but very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to public transport. Room was good size and clean . Reception staff is very polite and helpful . Breakfast is good and yummy but it can be improved by introducing some more variety . Overall , memorable stay at this hotel .

  Employees in breakfast room were slow and did not pay attention to our needs. There was no big caps and we had to ask 3 times for it.

  Stuff is amazing. Rumesh made us feel like at home.
  Bed is comfortable, there is more than enough space in room.
  
  What could be improved: Location is a far away from the centre. You need 15 minutes walk to the metro station then additional 45 minutes to the city centre.
  
  Isolation doesnt exist. You hear every steps, every noise.
