Horti 14 Borgo Trastevere Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Horti 14 Borgo Trastevere Hotel on Via di San Francesco di Sales, you immediately get that “I’m in the real Rome” feeling. This four-star boutique property sits right in the heart of Trastevere — honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better spot to experience authentic Roman life. The building itself has that understated elegance that Romans do so well, and you know what? The fact that couples consistently rate the location 9.3 out of 10 tells you everything you need to know about how romantic this neighborhood feels.
The Trastevere Advantage
I mean, Rome has plenty of tourist-heavy areas, but Trastevere is where locals actually hang out. You’re literally steps away from cobblestone streets lined with family-run trattorias and wine bars that have been serving the neighborhood for generations. The hotel’s location score of 9.2 isn’t just a number — it reflects how perfectly positioned you are to wander medieval alleys in the evening, then easily hop across the river to major sights during the day. Plus, having private parking at the hotel is actually a huge deal in this part of the city (trust me on this one).
Your Room Experience
The room design strikes that perfect balance between modern comfort and Roman character. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to create spaces that feel both intimate and spacious — no small feat in a historic neighborhood where buildings weren’t exactly designed with contemporary travelers in mind. The attention to detail is evident, but it’s not showy or over-the-top. Everything just works well together, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re trying to unwind after a day of exploring.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is actually impressive in its variety — they’ve got everything from continental and Italian options to full English, vegetarian, vegan, and even Asian choices. I was surprised by how accommodating they are with dietary restrictions, offering gluten-free options alongside the traditional spread. The buffet setup works well, but they also do breakfast to go if you’re the type who wants to grab something and head straight out to beat the crowds at the Vatican or Colosseum.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it captures the essence of staying in Trastevere without sacrificing modern amenities. You’re not just visiting Rome — you’re living in one of its most charming neighborhoods for a few days. The combination of that stellar location, thoughtful service, and the fact that you can actually park your car here (if you’re brave enough to drive in Rome) makes it a standout choice. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Roman holiday before you’ve even checked out.
Hotel in Rome reservations spike before fashion week when runway shows fill historic palaces.

The breakfast was superb – and served in a lovely sunny room. The location was great – we walked each day from the hotel into the centre. The hotel itself had a lovely chilled atmosphere – so definitely will return

Absolutely gorgeous place to stay, loved the location – easy ten min walk over bridge at end of road to get into main City, and ten min walk into heart of Trastevere (where loads of restaurants are) yet lovely to be away from noise. Staff were all fantastic and breakfast was amazing! Beautifully cleaned rooms and fresh towels daily. Definitely worth paying a little more for the comfort of this 4*hotel. AND the umbrellas were a lovely touch (which we needed for one of the days we were there!! ) We went for my daughter’s birthday and breakfast waiter went out of his way to remember and sorted a little cake on her day!
