Hotel Description
You know what hit me first about Home Baccina 28? The fact that I could actually hear my own footsteps echoing off cobblestones as I walked up – and I mean that in the best way possible. This little gem sits right in the heart of Monti, which honestly feels like Rome’s best-kept secret even though it’s not really a secret anymore. The building itself has that weathered Roman charm where you can’t tell if it’s 200 or 400 years old, but the moment you step inside, everything shifts into this surprisingly modern, clean-lined space that somehow doesn’t feel jarring against the ancient neighborhood.
The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully minimal” – and I actually mean thoughtful, not just sparse. Someone clearly spent time figuring out exactly what you need and nothing you don’t. The beds are proper comfortable (I’m talking about that sweet spot where you sink in just enough), and the bathrooms have this lovely marble that feels cool under your feet in the morning. What really got me though was the attention to sound – the windows actually block out the street noise, which matters more than you’d think when you’re two blocks from Via dei Fori Imperiali and all those tour groups. The WiFi works everywhere, even in the tiny elevator, which… well, let’s just say Italian elevators and I have a complicated relationship, but this one’s fine.
But here’s the thing about staying here – you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Colosseum, but more importantly, you’re right where Romans actually live and eat. There’s this little alimentari on the corner where the owner remembers your face after two visits, and the bar next to it makes proper cornetti that are still warm at 8 AM. Skip the tourist traps on Via Cavour and wander down toward Via del Boschetto instead – that’s where you’ll find dinner spots that don’t even have English menus. The metro’s close enough (Cavour station is maybe five minutes), but honestly, you’ll probably end up walking everywhere because Rome unfolds differently when you’re on foot. Just pack comfortable shoes and maybe download a decent map app, because even after three days I was still taking wrong turns in these medieval streets. The staff knows this neighborhood inside and out too – they gave me restaurant recommendations that I’m still thinking about months later, and they were spot-on about timing visits to avoid the worst crowds at the Forum.

Fantastic location and beautiful experience! – Marija from Serbia – 9 April 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is just around the corner from the Colosseum – truly unbeatable location. Our stay was wonderful! The host was amazing, very kind and helpful throughout. The apartment itself is huge – we were two families staying there and barely even crossed paths. If we ever come back to Rome, we would definitely stay here again.
Great value in central Rome – Catherine from United Kingdom – 3 April 2025 (8/10)
We have just returned after a great stay. Location is excellent, a 5-10 minute walk to the Colosseum and other attractions. The check in process was very easy. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, I would book here again and recommend to friends and family.
What could be improved: Room was still being cleaned on arrival – not a major problem as we could leave our bags in the room and head out to a nearby restaurant.
There is a bar downstairs that got quite rowdy until 2am on one of the nights, just bear this in mind if you need silence to sleep.
There wasn't any toilet roll in the apartment, we had to buy some at a nearby convenience store.Excellent small family apartment centrally located in Rome near great sites and food. – Stephen from United States – 30 March 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location! Great little apartment with everything we needed. Close enough to walk to many famous sites in Rome and Termini as well. Our favorite little restaurant for dinner in Rome was just around the corner (La Taverna Madonna Dei Monti 16) and La Licata is a must stop for breakfast (get there early as it’s very popular).
Perfect place to stay in Rome with family – Adel from Serbia – 11 January 2025 (10/10)
First, I would say it was really easy and nice to communicate with managers via Booking. They were so fast answering any questions!
They allowed us to check in a bit earlier as we arrived, and it was all distant: we found the keys and entered the building.
The apartment itself was spacious, nice and warm!! Which is great during quite cold nights. We had fridge, microwave, kitchen stove. The bathroom was spacious as well.
Beds were comfortable! And so were the pillows, for me it's really important.
So I had only best impression and happy that we found that apartment!
Location is super!! 3 minutes from Colloseo and Forums. Wonderful house. Really quiet area.Good – Wajdy from Netherlands – 8 March 2025 (7/10)
Location
What could be improved: There was no hot water to take a showerNice location but noisy – Teri from Australia – 10 February 2025 (7/10)
The accommodation was in a nice location with a cute piazza nearby – this area ended up being our favourite with lots of restaurants and places for your morning coffee.
What could be improved: There's a bar outside the accommodation that's open until 2am every night and can be quite noisy when trying to sleep. The windows don't block enough sound from the street.
The kettle was also in an odd location, which was difficult to use because the cord wasn't long enough. I was expecting a small fridge in the room.Ottimo – Andrea from Italy – 24 June 2025 (9/10)
