Hotel Description

The Hilton Rome Eur La Lama sits in one of those parts of Rome that most tourists never see, and honestly, that’s part of what makes it interesting. The EUR district – which locals just call “Eur” – was Mussolini’s grand vision of modern Rome, all wide boulevards and imposing marble buildings from the 1930s. It’s sort of fascinating in a stark, architectural way, though I’ll admit it feels worlds apart from the cobblestone chaos of the historic center.

What struck me first about this place was how refreshingly spacious everything feels. You know how Roman hotels can be – charming but cramped, with elevators the size of phone booths? Well, this is the opposite. The lobby actually lets you breathe, and the rooms are properly sized for spreading out your stuff (crucial after a long day of sightseeing). The 4-star rating feels accurate – it’s polished and professional without trying too hard to be fancy. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms, but everything works well and feels clean and contemporary. The beds are genuinely comfortable too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re walking 15,000 steps a day around Rome.

The location is where things get interesting. You’re about 20 minutes from the Colosseum by metro – the Eur Palasport station is practically next door – but here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: this area comes alive in the evenings when Romans who work in the business district head to the local restaurants. There’s this whole dining scene that tourists miss entirely. Plus, if you’re flying into Fiumicino, you’ll appreciate that the airport express train stops right here in EUR, making arrivals and departures surprisingly painless. I actually saw business travelers checking out at 6 AM who could probably make it to their terminal faster than someone staying near Termini station.

The staff runs things efficiently without being stuffy about it – check-in was smooth, and they seemed genuinely helpful when I asked about getting to Trastevere for dinner (take the metro to Piramide, then tram 8, in case you’re wondering). The hotel restaurant is decent for breakfast, though you’ll want to explore the neighborhood for dinner. There’s a fantastic Roman trattoria called Da Valentino about a 10-minute walk away that serves proper carbonara without any of the tourist markup you’d pay near the Vatican.

One thing to know – this isn’t a romantic, boutique kind of place. It’s more like a really solid business hotel that happens to work great for tourists who want modern comfort and easy transport links. The building itself has that clean, corporate aesthetic that some people love and others find a bit sterile. I fall somewhere in the middle – it’s not atmospheric like staying in a converted palazzo, but there’s something to be said for reliable hot water and soundproof windows. Speaking of which, the rooms are genuinely quiet, which is worth mentioning since Roman traffic can be brutal. You’ll sleep well here, and honestly, isn’t that half the battle when you’re trying to keep up with everything this city throws at you?

  • Great staff. Great facility. Be aware of the location. – Carolina from United Arab Emirates – 9 June 2025 (9/10)

    Great facility , amazing staff.

What could be improved: Elevators are a pickle during peak times. Be aware of the location, if you are going to do the typical Roma tourism might be a bit far….otherwise it was amazing.

  • Nice hotel but not what I expected for the name and price. – Elizabeth from Australia – 3 June 2025 (8/10)

Our suite was roomy, clean, tastefully decorated with a good view. Comfy bed. Close to restaurants.

What could be improved: Reception staff who greeted me was not very welcoming. I gave her my name and she just smiled without a word and waited for me to ask her what she needed from me which I thought was a bit strange. Wanted to order room service but there wasn’t a menu in the room. We booked a corner king room but there wasn’t even a bottle of complimentary water and the coffee making facility was a teapot and instant coffee. In Italy! Not quite what I would expect from a Hilton.
