Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Casa Barberini? The moment you step inside, it actually feels like someone’s elegant Roman home rather than a typical guesthouse. I mean, the address on Via della Purificazione sounds fancy enough, but honestly, I wasn’t expecting the kind of thoughtful touches you’d find here – the kind that make you think the owners actually care about how your stay goes. The building itself has that classic Roman charm, with those high ceilings and original architectural details that you can’t fake, but someone’s clearly put effort into making sure it works for modern travelers too.

The location is what really sold me though. You’re right in the heart of Via Veneto, which – if you’ve never been to Rome – is sort of the perfect sweet spot between tourist central and actual Roman life. Walk five minutes one way and you’re at the Spanish Steps dealing with crowds, but head the other direction and you’ll find yourself on quiet side streets where locals grab their morning coffee. The Barberini metro stop is literally around the corner, which saved me so much time getting around the city. And here’s something I didn’t expect – the area actually gets pretty quiet at night, despite being so central. I was worried about street noise (Roman traffic is no joke), but the rooms face away from the busiest streets, so you can actually sleep with the windows open on cooler evenings.

What impressed me most was how the staff seemed to know their neighborhood inside and out. They didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – they marked up specific routes to avoid crowds, pointed out which local restaurants were worth the walk, and even mentioned that the little alimentari on the corner stays open later than most if you need snacks or water. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing revolutionary but everything works properly, which honestly is half the battle in Rome. The bathrooms are updated without losing that Italian marble feel, and there’s actual water pressure – again, not something you can take for granted. I’d say it’s the kind of place where you’re paying for the location and the personal attention rather than fancy amenities, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If you’re looking for a rooftop pool or a fancy spa, this isn’t your spot, but if you want to feel like you’re staying in a real Roman neighborhood with easy access to everything that matters, Casa Barberini delivers on that promise.

Reviews

  • I like it – Ekaterina from Austria – 2 July 2025 (9/10)

The location is amazing, friendly staff, really helpful. Refrigerator and iron are in the shared area, good a/c in the room.

What could be improved: First evening we had no hot water unfortunately. However on the second evening the problem was solved

  • Good – Wioleta from Germany – 9 June 2025 (7/10)

I stayed there for a few nights with my mom and the location is amazing! It was a place to discover Rome. Additionally, the bed was super comfy!

  • Very good – Monika from Israel – 27 March 2025 (8/10)

The room is specious, and the bathroom is new. Everything was clean and the location is great, close to the city center, the metro and bus stations

What could be improved: The water flow in the shower was a bit weak and and as I have curles and long thick hair it was a bit problematic, Moreover, if someone tries to shower in another room at the same time with you, you will get cold water.
Other than that, the stay was great!

  • Very good – Dolly from United States – 23 March 2025 (8/10)

The location and housekeeping. Also, the staff. They were very helpful holding my luggage after the check out.

  • Superb – Kontini from Greece – 7 March 2025 (9/10)

It was clean, safe and the girl in the reception was very kind and polite. There were some spaces like the kitchen and the balcony that were for all the guests but it was also clean.

What could be improved: The only problem was with the shower and the pressure of the water and the temperature

  • Thank you to all the staff for being so flexible and accommodating! I’d love to stay here again when I visit Rome. – Tomomi from Japan – 1 February 2025 (7/10)

I’m not very good at English or Italian, but thanks to the staff’s frequent communication, I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. The room was very clean, and the amenities were well-stocked.

What could be improved: I noticed a slight sewage smell in the room.
Also, I found it a bit difficult to figure out how to enter the building at first. It would have been helpful to receive instructions via message the day before. (Though, to be fair, my lack of language skills and inability to call probably played a big role!)

  • Superb – Taynna from Brazil – 17 January 2025 (9/10)

    The location is perfect.

What could be improved: The shower is not good.

  • Superb – Alex from United Kingdom – 22 October 2024 (9/10)

Great location by Piazza Barberini, 5 minutes to the Spanish steps and 10 to Trevi Fountain , St Ignatius Church and the Pantheon. Extremely clean. Very welcoming staff who let us early check in when we’d arranged to leave baggage as the room was ready by 11.30 when we arrived

What could be improved: Shower in our room was hot and cold and not the best quality.

  • Perfect location, wonderful staff. – Janis from United States – 12 October 2024 (8/10)

The staff were exceptional at taking care of my needs, Irem in particular. The location was exactly where I needed to be.

What could be improved: The private bathroom was external and tricky to lock and unlock. That was not convenient.

  • Superb – Gabriella from Australia – 28 September 2024 (9/10)

    Spacious, clean, friendly staff

What could be improved: Elevator was small but still worked fine.
