Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Green Apartments Rome? The location is absolutely killer – I mean, you’re literally in Monti, which honestly feels like the Rome that Romans actually live in, not just the tourist version. Via Labicana might not ring a bell until you realize you’re basically a five-minute walk from the Colosseum (and I actually timed it), but more importantly, you’re surrounded by these narrow cobblestone streets filled with wine bars and family-run trattorias that don’t have English menus plastered outside.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious – and I say surprising because, well, this is Rome, where most hotel rooms feel like elegant closets. The 4-star rating actually means something here; there’s proper air conditioning (crucial if you’re visiting between June and September), and the kitchenettes are functional enough that you could skip the hotel breakfast and grab fresh cornetti from the bakery around the corner on Via dei Serpenti instead. The whole building feels more like staying in someone’s well-appointed pied-à-terre than a typical hotel, which makes sense given the name. Check-in was smooth, though the reception area is compact – don’t expect a grand lobby scene. What you will get is genuinely helpful staff who seem to actually know the neighborhood, not just the standard tourist script.

Here’s the thing about staying in Monti – and this is something you only figure out after wandering around – it’s perfectly positioned between the ancient stuff (Colosseum, Roman Forum) and the more lived-in parts of the city. You can walk to Termini Station in about fifteen minutes if you need to catch a train, but you’re also steps away from places like Il Sorpasso for aperitivo or that little bookshop on Via del Boschetto that stays open late. The streets can get lively in the evenings, especially on weekends, but honestly the sound of people enjoying themselves feels more authentic than dealing with tour groups marching past at 7 AM. Plus, the apartment windows are well-insulated – I slept fine even with the nightlife buzz outside. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you consider you’re getting apartment-style space and privacy in one of Rome’s most characterful neighborhoods, without paying those crazy prices you’d shell out for similar quality near the Spanish Steps or Trastevere.

Reviews

  • Excellent – Anca from Romania – 20 June 2025 (10/10)

It was very clean, the bed was big and comfy and the pillows very good. The bathrooms were practical and clean. The kitchen table for 4 was very useful, as well as the kitchen amenities. The AC worked well and we enjoyed the silence of the property (it is placed in the second plan, you cannot hear the traffic). The location is excelent, the Colosseum was just on our street and every evening we enjoyed the area (it is very scenic and great for instagram photos and we felt very safe as well). Just on the other side of the street was a Carrefour market, a very good coffee shop (good coffee and good prices) and a restaurant. The host was very friendly, he gave us a nice map and gabe us itinerary suggestions, which were very useful. If I return to Rome, I will definetly stay here.
