Giuditta in Trastevere Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places in Rome, but Giuditta in Trastevere actually surprised me – and that’s saying something because I’m usually pretty cynical about boutique hotels. The thing is, it sits right on this little piazza that most tourists never find, Piazza Giuditta Tavani Arquati, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is. You know what I mean? It’s one of those spots where you’ll hear actual Romans chatting on their balconies rather than tour groups shuffling past.
The hotel itself feels like someone’s well-traveled aunt decided to open her gorgeous apartment to guests. I mean that in the best way possible – there’s this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. The rooms have these beautiful old wooden shutters that you’ll want to throw open first thing in the morning, and honestly, the light that pours in is something else. What really got me though was how quiet it stays, even on weekend nights when the rest of Trastevere is buzzing. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the mayhem around Santa Maria in Trastevere, but somehow this little corner stays peaceful. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which is rarer than you’d think – they sent me to this tiny osteria on Via dei Cappuccini that I never would have found otherwise.
Here’s the thing about staying in Trastevere that a lot of people don’t realize: you’re going to walk. A lot. The nearest metro stop is a bit of a hike, but honestly, that’s part of the charm. You’ll cross the Tiber on these gorgeous bridges and see the city from angles that people staying near Termini never get. Plus, if you’re dragging luggage, the front desk staff will help you figure out the easiest route – they’ve clearly had this conversation before. The area gets pretty lively at night (we’re talking proper Roman nightlife, not just tourist bars), but the hotel’s position means you get the energy without the noise bleeding into your room. I slept better there than I have anywhere else in Rome, which is saying something because I’m usually kept awake by street sounds. The only tiny thing I’d mention is that the elevator is one of those charming old European ones – so maybe pack light if you’re on the fourth floor.

Reviews of Giuditta in Trastevere
Exceptional – David from United States – 25 June 2025 (10/10)
A cute room that had everything we needed for two people, and great staff! We dropped our bags off early along with some food, and the staff very graciously brought our bags into our room and our food into the mini fridge once the room was ready. Very Shabbat friendly (fridge doesn't have a light, the AC stays on all day/night, they give you a key to the building and the room, and they set out candles to light on Friday.) Really just a great place!
The staff were so helpful in booking reservations.kim was so friendly and helpful – Matthew from United States – 21 June 2025 (10/10)
Quiet, clean , location, helpful friendly staff.
What could be improved: Shower pressure etc great but privacy not so great with a group. The shower bar fell done a couple of times. Towel hooks robe in bathroom would be great but all in all no big deal.Fabulous – Nancy from United States – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
Great loc….bar/restaurant next door….very clean…great rooftop terrace!!
Excellent place to stay in the Trastavere. – Willem from Australia – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Excellent fit out maximising the use of space. Spotlessly clean and the rooftop was areal bonus.
Kimberley was exceptionally helpful and couldn’t do enough for us.
What could be improved: The mattress was a bit hard but we slept well anyway. (A mattress topper would be a real improvement!Amazing stay at Giuditta!! – Jane from United States – 3 May 2025 (10/10)
The property was clean and well appointed and the breakfasts were very tasty. But mostly – the best part was the phenomenal help and support of the staff. All amazing. Special shout out to Kimberly!!!
What could be improved: All good!Loved the location, but there’s definitely room for improvement. – Maria from Portugal – 1 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was amazing — we were able to walk everywhere, which made the trip super convenient. We only needed transport to and from the airport. The room was clean and breakfast is served on the rooftop, which is lovely when the weather’s nice.
What could be improved: The pillows were really flat and hard, and there weren’t any different options in the room. The bed only had a thin layer, so I had to use the blanket that was stored in a plastic bag, but unfortunately it smelled pretty bad. The bathroom was also extremely small. For breakfast, you have to fill out a paper form the day before, but they got our order wrong every single day — either missing things or bringing extras we didn’t ask for. Plus, the food quality wasn’t great.Favourite place to stay in Rome – Sally from Australia – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, friendly and comfortable. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was beautiful. Staff so helpful and welcoming
Beautiful stay in the heart of vibrant Trastevere – Jurković from Croatia – 7 April 2025 (10/10)
Everything was great – the facilities and the location really provide an authentic Roman experience 😊
Quiet and nice place to stay, but close enough from the city buzz. – Giselle from Brazil – 24 February 2025 (10/10)
Great location. The breakfast at the rooftop gave us a good feeling from Rom. We could reach all the attractions by foot.
A beautiful small hotel, perfectly placed and great value for money. – Andrew from United Kingdom – 15 February 2025 (10/10)
Location, value for money especially with the included breakfast was perfect.
Genuine care shown for us the entire trip by staff.
What could be improved: Another group that joined us for the last two nights next to us were quite loud occasionally. Sound carried into our room and as there was not staff in the facility at all times response would have been slower to try and correct this if it got to that level.
