Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Giubbonari Suites? The name sounds way more intimidating than it actually is – I mean, I was expecting some stuffy old Roman palace, but it’s honestly just a really solid boutique spot tucked into one of those narrow medieval streets that make Rome feel like a maze. The building sits right on Via dei Giubbonari, which is this cobblestone street that’s actually pretty quiet considering you’re literally a three-minute walk from the Pantheon. I’m talking about the kind of quiet where you hear church bells in the morning instead of traffic, which is sort of miraculous when you’re staying in the heart of Rome.
The suites themselves are what I’d call thoughtfully modern – they kept the high ceilings and original stone details but didn’t go overboard with the whole “ancient Roman” theme like some places do. The rooms are genuinely spacious, which matters when you’re dealing with Italian hotel standards (let’s be honest, some of them are basically elegant closets). What really won me over was the little kitchenette situation they’ve got going – nothing fancy, but perfect for making coffee the way you like it or storing those amazing mortadella sandwiches from Salumeria Roscioli down the street. Speaking of which, you’ll probably end up there anyway because it’s become this local institution, and the staff at Giubbonari actually knows the good lunch spots that aren’t total tourist traps.
The location is honestly the star here, though I wish someone had warned me about the morning deliveries on the street – nothing too crazy, just the usual Roman symphony of scooters and small trucks around 8 AM. But here’s the thing: you’re positioned perfectly between Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona, so you can hit the morning market for fresh fruit and be sipping aperitivo by the fountains before the evening crowds really descend. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel that a lot of central Rome has lost – there’s still a barbershop that’s been there since the 1960s, and the corner bakery where locals actually go for their daily bread. I found myself just wandering these side streets in the evenings, stumbling across tiny wine bars and trattorias that don’t even have websites. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Rome, but it gets the important stuff right: comfortable beds, reliable WiFi, and that perfect sweet spot where you feel like you’re staying in a real Roman neighborhood without sacrificing the convenience of being walking distance from, well, everything that matters.

Reviews
Great place to stay for your first time in Rome! Good facilities and location! – Dennis from Australia – 8 December 2024 (9/10)
We really enjoyed staying at Guibbonari Suites as it was good in basically all aspects! For our first time in Rome, the location of it was fantastic and it was great being central and within walking distance of basically all major monuments.
What could be improved: We just had a bit of difficult finding it, intially! Just be careful when looking at the map. How to find the door could have been explained better.Good for light packers – Maryam from United Arab Emirates – 14 September 2024 (7/10)
The location is good close to many restaurants and attractions, property is clean
What could be improved: Not a good option for a heavy packer as it has stairs and not very easy to access with more than one door and few stairs. The checkout is very early at 10amLovely spot to stay during your Rome trip – Marie-luisa from Germany – 7 August 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is modern and clean and located right around the Campo Di Fiori. From there its only a max. 15 min walk to all the big sightseeing spots in Rome!
It's a lively area but quiet enough to get a goodnights sleep.
Checkin/out easy to do by ourselves.
We would recommend staying here anytime!
What could be improved: The shower – while the whole apartment was perfectly clean, it seems like the shower is the only thing that doesn't get cleaned! Big lime spots and even small mold spots in the shower…Great stay in the central location of Rome – Leong from Malaysia – 17 July 2024 (9/10)
The location is really central and it was easy to walk everywhere from there. The aircond in the room helped alot during the really hot summer days (38 degree days).
What could be improved: The refrigerator didn't work and the light switch for the shower area didn't work either. But that didn't bother us too much.Great location and nearly everything within walking distance. Great breakfast and a carrefore down below. – Matthew from United Kingdom – 29 May 2024 (9/10)
Location and great communications
Great place to stay, very secure & near everything – Jacqueline from United States – 6 March 2024 (8/10)
Great location!
What could be improved: Weird smell in room.Really recommended, great for Jewish travellers looking to be close to the ghetto – Cindy from Israel – 14 January 2024 (9/10)
Staff was incredibly sweet and helpful, you can leave your bags before hand, which is really gray. Location is amazing and everything was clean and new. This is great for Jewish travellers as it is close to the Jewish area, and they are very accommodating for a Shabbat.
What could be improved: The only reason why I didn’t give it a 10 was because there was a little bit of a weird smell every time we entered the apartmentGreat centrally located suites to stay in Rome – Stelios from Cyprus – 28 November 2023 (9/10)
The location is superb. Couldn't imagine any better, centrally located property to stay in Rome!! You are close to everything in Rome, and within walking distance. There are restaurants, cafes, supermarkets just a few steps away.
What could be improved: N/aGreat accomodation in a fantastic location. – Ben from United Kingdom – 4 November 2023 (9/10)
Excellent location within walking distance of all attractions.
What could be improved: The bed was a bit hard and the towels could do with replacing if I was being picky.Quiet room could use more hanging and storage – Barry from United States – 23 October 2023 (8/10)
Bed and pillows were comfortable we had a king bed. Room was smaller then then. Resection but bathroom bigger.
What could be improved: I think this is a young persons place. I felt like I needed more hanging space and storage space, especially in bathroom. I wish to not stay in the middle of a tourist area ever again. The people that ran it were very nice. Room was quiet for sleeping
